Why did he buy Kastaneer and Jobello then? How does Bakayoko or Hiwula fit into his pre ordained system

Clearly we went into the season playing wingers. Injuries meant we changed formation and we've made that work incredibly well.

Robins did very well to make it work, trying out the midfield box which has been so good for us, rather than sticking with a formation and playing players out of position.

Tell you what, I was spoilt growing up with Sillett as manager.

Since then we've had the occasional blip (Phil Neal in 11th! Gould's first return season!, one or two Strachan seasons, Black's time, an Adams season, half a Dowie season, a Pressley season, but in a place where nobody got to see it, a Mowbray season) but in terms of a continuous run of results, Robins is the only one to keep progressing us.

Personally I can live with a relatively poor season if off the field is improving, anyway, and it's safe to say the structures and the pathway through from reserves to first team is a lot more defined under Robins than it was, too - if we fall away this season, it will still have been an improvement... despite the culture at the organisation he's part of being utterly bonkers. Of course there are things he could do better, but there's also a reason he's managing at this level, and not at Man City.

It'll be revealed in the accounts eventually (but not just the next one, if we pay in installments!), and I'd be interested to know who among us thinks we'd actually end up with a net spend on transfers in those accounts.

We were fighting relegation from the championship when Adams took over but he was backed by a supportive board, had a team that played and continued to play in Coventry and also had the feel good factor of the move to the Ricoh and the massive increase in attendances. Robins took over at possibly the lowest ebb in our history. When Adams left we weren’t much better off than when he came in. At the moment we are a far different proposition on the pitch to the team that Robins inherited.
For the record I liked Adams but he doesn’t compare to Robins.

Coleman was the classic case of smoke and mirrors, where Ranson promised £xmillion to be spent on the team. We all thought it was transfer fees... whereas it was actually on wages too.

Actually if we're talking blips, first half of Coleman's first full season was good too. Dann Fox and Westwood looked class, we had Henderson and Bell(!) on the wings to kick us on, and we actually looked alright.

Then we lost to Chelsea in the cup.

Yep, Adams took over with us in 20th in the Championship when we had 32 points from 29 games.

He left us 16th in the Championship, with 34 points from 28 games

i.e. he took us absolutely nowhere.

Robins bought in McNulty and Chaplin and sold them on for a huge profit. George Thomas played his best football under Robins when he returned to the club and the club were compensated by Leicester. He introduced Bayliss into the team against the judgement of some of the coaching staff and 18 months later he is sold for £2 million. He got fees for Stevenson and Harries, one who plays in the fourth division and the other seeming to make little impact at Swansea. All revenue generated by his own good management but which you put down to his predecessor.
You can see the same things happening again with players who had little value last season, McCallum, Shipley,Westbrook for example now having financial worth. Give credit where it’s due.

Tough one to answer really isn't it. Would he deserve a full season for getting us up or should we bite the bullet if we were struggling and get a 'proven' championship manager to keep us up? I dont think you could really answer this until that situation arose.

I know the question wasn't directed at me but I wouldn't. If he gets us there he deserves a fair crack of the whip.
If we do go up I can't envisage anything but a difficult season no matter who's in charge unless we go on spending spree.

He is also conveniently forgetting that Robins signed Mc Goldrick’s replacement,Leon Clarke.

He'd deserve to stay even if we got relegated, as long as we were competitive.

I disagree. The team were a complete mess when he took over. Far from heading for promotion, without the changes Robins made, we would have been heading for another relegation. He changed the team almost completely bringing in Doyle, Kelly, Grimmer, McDonald, Hyam, Biamou, McNulty, Vincenti and JCH as well as various loan players and the introduction of Shipley, Bayliss and Kelly-Evans. He had to get those players to jell and turn around the losing mentality in the players left from the season before. But promotion was not difficult to achieve? How many of the other sides relegated with us got promoted?

Its my theory or assumption. Only older ppl wud have seen any managers that could be seen as better than robins considering lack of success inbetween
