Anyone else think he should be given a chance ahead of McCallum looks like he has a bit more pace and power and a good left foot and mcCallum has struggled going forward last few weeks in my opinion although he is quite solid defensively.

McCallum didn't fancy it last night, their winger bullied him a fair bit. McCallum tried to take him on a few times but couldn't get past him.

Yes I would give Giles a go.

McCallum hasn't been good for a number of weeks now so nice to keep him on his toes with another player.

He could well be McCallums replacement next season. Will be interesting if he replaces him but he only got about 10 minutes last night so I expect McCallum to play.

It depends what Giles has been showing in training
Reckon today's game is part of the plan for Robins to see him against decent opposition

I don't think we should change it for Sunderland or Ipswich. The team are playing well at the moment and getting results.

McCallum for a few weeks has needed a breather. The positive is Giles has now had 4 weeks with us to adapt to how we play and thought he looked quick and energetic last night and would feel fine with him coming in for mccallum.

Don't know about anyone else but the thought of having a back 4 scares the life out of me now, the 3 CBs gives me confidence and allows Dabo and McCallum to really bomb forward knowing they have that extra cover behind them.

That run and cross at the end should prove that Giles has something to offer

Thought McCallum done a lot better than previous weeks last night tbh up against a very tricky winger my issue was his delivery was poor he was constantly getting the ball in great positions,Giles looks like he possibly might have a better end product.

Did you see mason at Rotherham? That is the issue he’s just too small and since that game McCallum has been well ahead of him
In fairness I didn’t. I take people’s points about being a left back as opposed to a wing back but from what I saw of him early season he looked outstanding. Most on here (including me) were ecstatic when he signed a contract extension. I’m not sure he’s had a fair run out given the start he had.

He was probably player of the season for the first 10 games or so.

McCallum let no one down defensively but the last cross when rose put him clean through was symptomatic of his attacking threat. Right midfield for Sunderland their best player so a big call. I think mccallum will start but Giles will get longer

I’ve been critical of McCallums stamina previously but he’s so much better in that department recently. Still doesn’t quite have the same ability as Dabo to constantly get up and down for 90 minutes but definitely improved.

As I’ve said a lot before he’s brilliant in the air and he nullifies that diagonal ball targeting a wing back which is so commonly used at this level.

Did we really get £3 million plus for McCallum?
If so I think someone at Cov has had Delia Smiths pants down!!

Perish the thought!

He did look exciting in his (albeit brief) appearance last night. Although I thought McCallum was fine. He was very good against Rochdale too. I do think the criticism of his recent form is a touch harsh and would not be dropping him against Sunderland. That said I’d expect to see Giles on for longer, particularly if we are not winning after 60 mins,

In fairness to McCallum he is part of a normal rock solid defence but I wouldn’t be surprised if Robins brings Giles in

Looked well balanced and quick over 10 yards. Would not start him but could be very effective when defences are tiring.

He doesn't appear to be a wing back, more a left back in a flat back line.

Although he could have grew into the role im positive about that

Can’t see him getting in a squad again this season barring injury. Shame for him but Robins is ruthless, don’t know whether he just thinks the other 2 are better options or he’s not in his good books

Seen it with Doyle, Hiwula and Grimmer. He holds no sentiment if it’s going to improve the team

Suspect it’s just a case of Beezy biding his time. Come June 30th he’s our only left back, and he’s contracted for another 2 years. He’s still only 22 don’t forget, he may have another chance come pre season to cement a place in the side, regardless of division.

Giles lookes good but woukdbt change a settled defence. mcallum is playing well. Not getting better of opposition defender for 1 game doesnt mean he didnt fancy it

TBF you’ve been saying “its one game doesn’t mean anything” for three or four games now.

If we are attacking the game in the last half hour I’d like to see Giles given a go.

I’m not so sure. He started the season first choice and is now third choice to two loanees. Robins didn’t have to bring in Giles really if he thought Mason was ample enough cover

He hasn't played particularly well since he scored at Wycombe.

Teams are targeting him now.

This Giles kid needs to be given the opportunity on Sunday he's rapid, not sure how good he is at defending though as not on long enough last night.
