I’m sure I heard on radio but was only half listening to be honest that concourses and bars at stadiums, not just football they were talking race courses and other sporting venues could be closed or fans not allowed to congregate there so you literally go through the turnstile straight to your seats. This is all going to get rather messy I reckon, strikes me the powers that be don’t really know what to do

WHO are miles behind. Self isolating AFTER you have the symptoms works well doesn’t it...

The UK is relatively unaffected at the moment, relatively. We're only at 4.7 cases per 1 million population, compared to Italy at 122, Spain 22 and Germany and France in the high teens. The daily increase in cases also doesn't seem to be accelerating in the way it is in other countries. Hopefully it'll be contained and we continue to take a common sense view. Sensible precautions, but without the need for panic.

It's all you can do after you gave the symptoms really.

I just don’t know what to believe anymore. The other week infected people could only pass it on to three others.

...I had other thoughts, but my mrs spoke and I lost my train of thought. Damn that woman.

Think what you’re referring to is how many people they think the average person infects. They can certainly infect more than three (virus’s can’t count AFAIK) as per that chap that went skiing in France and infected about a gazillion people.

But take your point that what we know changes as we find out more about it.

Yeah self isolation after you have symptoms is only part of the WHO advice.

All games in Italy suspended until at least 3rd April, so will probably happen here in the next few weeks.

We have 6 games between now and then 12 points will be a good haul.

Rotherham will need 17. The others can’t catch us if we get 12pts

I wouldn't use Itsly as template for anywhere else as they have made aright hash of it

You can see the EFL bricking it, in terms of clubs suing them, if they don't like whatever ruling they come up with- particularly in the event of a curtailed season. Not sure what they would do if a club has a number of it's players 'out' with the virus - it could be chaotic in terms of fixture scheduling.

EFL will act on whatever announcements or advice comes from Government, certainly won’t do anything off their own backs

For a religious man you're showing a juvenile attitude to this matter.
At the Very minimum this is ten times more lethal than regular influenza.
Show some societal responsibility to others.

you don’t have to be religious to have a different opinion to you.

FWIW the deaths from the common varieties of flu were 26000 in the uk a couple of years ago.

Some expert on 5Live this morning was saying it is all most certain that sport will be hit and probably within the next 10 days or so. Large crowd gatherings will be banned.

He said that although on the surface scientists backed the PM yesterday, behind the scenes they were a lot of rumblings. Just a case of when rather than if.

Not sure how they will be able to do it any other way than to have games behind closed doors. That would be the only fair way.

Having another off-season could be very damaging to us I think. We have the momentum. Easy to lose that if there is an extended break.

It’s a once in a lifetime scenario isn’t it? The behind closed doors thing only works if no player gets poorly, as soon as they do everything needs suspending. Both are just a matter of time aren’t they?

Yup. Seems certain some players will be hit, once they are, the whole thing could come crashing down.

Do our games qualify as ‘large gatherings?’

I’m under the impression that events with 10,000+ people classified as a ‘large gathering’ - read that somewhere, but I’m not 100% sure.

I don’t think Serie B or Serie C has been suspended yet. At a guess, any similar suspensions in England may only be just the Premiership and Championship?

I'm guessing everything has been suspended now given the whole country is in lock down

Playing behind closed doors won't stop the virus spreading. Players have proven this weekend that they will still shake hands with officials and other players at the end of the game, spit all over the pitch and sweat. Transmission is still possible. And the effects on the smaller clubs without income would be tragic. So where do the EFL stand ? If the EFL puts the season on hold, this could cause no end of problems when they restart. If the hold is for a month of two, would teams have enough time to finish this season without running into preseason and affecting next ? I can't see them ending the season early so the only other option would be to knock this one on the head, avoid any problems with fans and players getting ill and start again next season.

After all the efforts of MR and the lads, a season cancellation would be heartbreaking.

Even the experts disagree. Dr Jenny Harries on BBC 1

We may not ban large gatherings based on our current situation.

The French Ligue One has been suspended I believe.
