Signed for Solihull in October on a 2 month contract - Did not play one league game and then seems to have disappeared - 26 years old and it looks like finished with football - strange

I genuinely feel he could still have a number of roles he could play in our midfield ........

Sorry....pressed post before adding the roles

Boot cleaning
Looking on in admiration
Cheering them on from the stands

What??? As much as I liked Bigi his only role in our current midfield would be as bag carrier on and off the coach

Yep I’d go with that too

Newcastle took a punt - then went to Rangers(?) but had mystery illness?

Yes. I honestly thought he might have a decent chance at Newcastle...but something went horribly wrong and he didn’t develop at all. In fact when he came back to us he was a worse player than when he left. But will always remember him for the first goal City scored at Wembley since 87.

We did alright from him and he did alright.... lovely bloke apparently...so wish him only good things. But we are in a completely different place these days

IT's a lesson in footballers lives. Jamie Vardy was unknown, hit a few goals and got spotted more than once by managers who were willing to take a punt. The game is littered with quality footballers who for some reason have missed out due to a manager or coaches decision making at this club or that club, unable to get a game due to someone elses form, and fades out of contention and a number of other factors.
I have a brother in law who was a fantastic keeper at Sheffield Wed back in the early 90's playing in the youth and reserves vying for a contract with Kevin Presman . He was touted as better than Presman at the time, but a new coach came in chose Presman and eventually Presman went on to be Wednesday's first choice while the brother in law got released and eventually joined the army! So it can be luck of the draw as much as talent sometimes.

He was very important in what was probably the turning point in the club's fortunes
A goal and a goal line clearance as Oxford came on strong in the closing stages helped us win the Checkatrade at Wembley
I hear he's a decent lad too so it's a shame things haven't worked out for him

He is a good lad. Used to come around a school I was teaching at and always very positive. Definitely had potential as a kid but whether he believed his own hype or what Im not sure. Never seemed to kick on and harness what he had.

Never really rated him as much as many on here, but he'll always be rightly remembered for a pivotal role in winning the Checkatrade, which it could be argued was the catalyst for all that we have now. Nice kid I believe, gave his all, but the reported £1m we received was a huge bonus to keep us afloat and couldn't believe ee got it. Hope he gets a game somewhere.

He’s a really sound lad. Shame he never developed because he had real potential. Maybe he can still resurect his career somewhere

Look at all the players with shit agents.

bayliss
Stevenson
Harries
Sambou
Willis

all could have played a few good seasons with us and become established in the men’s game. Now they don’t even feature for their clubs, loaned out or gone. Or they play for a shit club (Sunderland)

He had a bad agent. Made out he is a world beater. Got a a deal at Newcastle, never really made it. Shipped off to Scotland, came back to us blah blah...

He did I assume get a good pay day at Newcastle so you could argue he had a very good agent

In the way I don’t like Willis because he waited until we got nothing for him to leave I dont like Bigi because we helped him get back on his feet while we got relegated and when offered another deal he went for the most money again up in Scotland.

Really surprised he can't get a game at non league level.
Thought he's be more than capable of playing lower league 1 or below.
Must have gone off the boil. Shame

Wow, didn’t realise Sambou left Everton in 2019 for big Dutch hitters Fortuna Sittard (nope never heard of them either). Scored 0 goals 6 games...

I agree. Nothing bit best wishes to the lad.

Still only 26. Wow

Agree. He went further in football than he ever should've. He had the benefit of media hype due to his story and playing first team football at a young age (mainly because of needs must) which won him the young footballer of the year award and put him on radars. Still not really sure what his assets were / are? Not particularly creative, not fast, not a great tackler.

I wonder if the club ever mention this to the kids in the academy. Think they have to do stuff about finance and things like that so presumably they cover agents in some way. Guess even if they tell them some will still prefer to listen to an agent telling them what they want to hear.
