I think its on Peston's twitter feed for a start amongst other places

(waits for usual suspects to make out its fake news/ bullshit/ made up etc)

Two things, one that absolutely appalling and shambolic by the government, secondly this is about ramping up testing, not as you incorrectly stated that not one single request for test kits had been made.

The news leaked to Peston is a disgrace but let’s not create fake news to prove a point.

(I’m apolitical so don’t try to say I’m defending anyone)

Nicer than telling a bloke whose son is on the front line of this crisis without the equipment he needs he's talking shit.

You're ok with that, says a lot about you.
Yes it does say a lot about me. The government has a lot to answer for and how it will be seen time will tell. What I do know is that the constant blame game played only gets us nowhere. Like spewing on Sisu gets us nowhere.
i won't insult you because, although you have chosen to go down that route with me, I believe you are a decent poster regarding the reason we are on the forum and we may digress on the route out of this mess.
Yes I do live in Saudi Arabia, providing jobs in the United Kingdom for over 300 people and yes there are beheadings and stonings by the state. Something I would suspect many would support here to rid the streets of the feral beings that take our children from us and pollute our culture. Guess what? the crime rate here is negligible and those that commit crimes don't have to wait long to serve their sentence. We could learn a lot from Saudi Arabia and vice versa.

There were reports a week or so ago from test manufacturers saying they’d had no orders from the NHS and were exporting everything.

I get people are keen to defend the government here but it’s not one or two slight things it’s a portfolio of evidence.

Not true, orders placed but then delivery not guaranteed.

Orders placed now maybe, but not when they should have been placed. A week or so ago there were companies openly saying they couldn't understand it, not one order from the NHS and exporting thousands to the EU.

Can’t actually believe just how far behind our NHS is

Its hard to believe because all we've been fed how great the NHS is, day after day we were told how great it is and how its the best system in the world and how they are protecting it.

Now we see what most people already knew & said- its not and they tore it apart

It’s an embarrassment

I went into insult mode because after the first line of your initial post you accused colin steins smile of talking shit which is hardly the opening gambit of someone who wants an adult debate and given the subject matter of his post and the fact it involved one of his close family members I though it was extremely uncalled for.

As for blaming the government, on this one issue, lack of PPE, lack of ventilators, lack of ICU beds then the blame is fairly and squarely 100 percent at their door. I cannot see any rational counter argument to that, they have been at the helm for 10 years in one guise or another.

As for Saudis crime rate, that's great and if you like living there fair enough, but there are other parts of the world with similarly low crime rates who don't low crime rates that don't resort to such draconian measures but that's probably another debate.

Please thank your son for his efforts on behalf of the public. He is truly a hero. But... I can't agree with the shit you are posting.
Your son studied to be a doctor on funds provided by the state, he is paid a salary paid for by the state. He is using his talents to serve the very people he trained to be a doctor for.
You and other berate the government at every opportunity yet was it not the voters that put them in in 2010 as a coalition and in 2015 as a majority and in 2017 as a minority and in 2019 as a landslide? In between wasn't it the public who voted to exit Europe? Why was that? Because of the horrific consequences of the government of the period before.
A message on the side of a bus is nothing but a message on the side of a bus until we exit Europe and we haven't as yet.
Lord it over us? For gods sake man it's 2020 not 1820. Stop this serf and master speak and take responsibility for the society around you. It's not the government's fault that people stab and kill each other anymore that it is their fault that idiots light up a BBQ. I understand that it is a blame culture you live in but how about putting the blame where it lies- on feral individuals.
As I stated in my earlier post, we are responsible for the governments we have elected as a country. So clearly, you didn't read my post properly.
I have a very specific interest in this subject, as my son is facing the daily threat of Covid19 without proper protection and we'll need him to be fit to deal with some of us, when/if we get ill.
I hope you also appreciate the high numbers of medics that are dying because of Covid19, so this is personal. Ranting posts from you don't help.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, I hope you have the sort of health care support that I enjoyed when I was seriously ill there. I had a member of the royal Family supporting my welfare at the German Saudi hospital in Riyadh, so don't get ill .....and if you do I hope you are considered a priority for a health service that could get overrun,

Bring kids up telling them there is no such thing as society, make them watch their parents get chucked around working 3 0 hour contract jobs to struggle to put food on the table and tell them they’re scum constantly because of the clothes they wear and the music they listen to and then expect them to be public spirited. Hypocritical nonsense.

Our society has been corrupted by 40 years of rampant individualism and nobody seems to like the consequences but any attempt to tip the scales slightly back towards the middle is derided as communist bullshit. You made this bed...

I could not agree more with you. 100% spot on.

You summarised it brilliantly, I might have that post as my screen saver :)

I too use the Saudi German Hospital in Riyadh and yes I have had the need to use the excellent service provided.
Blaming posts and pushing a political agenda from you are fine though?

Really hope this is one of those events that starts swinging the pendulum back towards the middle instead of this sad grasping attitude this country has developed.

Yes, for a start I'd like to be able to point out problems with current systems without immediately getting told I'm just a "lefty" or being told how all other countries are worse so I should just shut up and be grateful for being English.

Locally orders placed at least two weeks ago.

Let me start by agreeing there are real and valid issues with the way this virus has been handled by government and the public.
I am grateful for being English, it is the golden ticket in life. I think it is not valued by some of the very people that are English.
In a situation like we/you are in then I believe that it is our job to secure our family and environment and take care of that.

The thing about being English- I have never got that really. I don't like the assumption that it automatically makes us better than anyone else, and I don't like the way people are treated differently because of where they are from. And I am not having a pop, just saying.

Ah ok, so we have everything we need then do we?

Stop making excuses. Its not a political thing, its an incompetence thing.
I was pointing out that it is not true for manufacturers to say that they had not had any orders for testing kit (analysers and reagents). Unlike you I am not trying to make political points. I am not making excuses but correcting an untruth.

How do you know? Interested, not questioning you. Seems strange that companies would say it if its lies.

Read somewhere yesterday that 40/50% the population could of had it by the middle of April... would this build up a herd immunity faster as most people won't have even knew they had it
