New Fleetwood away, like that one a lot

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I had a go at creating a speculative design, largely based around the stripes with chevron lines on the new Cambridge home shirt. And since we’re probably going to have a betting sponsor, why not go with Granada Bingo in the interim?

That is gorgeous!! Maybe black shorts to match the trim, like in the 70's?

I may be talking bollocks, but i'd prefer we keep the same kits as last season.

I understand that it's a revenue stream, but i would imagine, especially if we have a reasonable start to the season, that the current kits will continue to sell in fair numbers.

We've got the best kits we've seen since the 90's and i think a shame to change them.

It's not about you talking bollocks... It is just never gonna happen.

When I was a kid, kits would normally last 2 seasons. Coventry were one of the first teams to have a kit every season. I think the Pony home one from 94/95 then 95/96 was the last '2 seasoner'.

As I recall the rules on keeping each kit for 2 seasons were dropped at the end of the 90s, after that teams would produce at least two new kits every season. Personally I don’t see a problem with it; for those who really want to (and can afford it), you can buy all the kits, or you can just buy the ones you care about, or wait until the end of the season for the inevitable reductions (I’d say they were taken surprise by demand for last season, but hopefully they’ll produce more this time round).

I obviously can’t resist tweaking, so here’s a different collar design too.

Like it. would love you forever if you could you do a 96/98 dark blue stripes mock up in a similar format, maybe a cheeky collar... possibly use that skyblue/dark blue checks that was on the trim. spice it up for the modern age. I know its not universally loved but it was a really striking set of shirts.

I’d love to, but sadly the template I’m using doesn’t have a decent collar equivalent to that era :( I may email the guy who builds them and suggest some collars be added to the standard set. I can certainly try a variant which is navy for the stripes though.

That would be great, we've had a couple of misfires with the skyblue/dark stripes since so would love to see nice version

Yeah it’s a bit busy. We got around it back then by having the sponsor blocked out (and the Le Coq Sportif badge was black on a white border, to make it stand out too).

Hey Kapowaz – Have you done a Ribero home re-make yet?

I tried, but I need a high-resolution scan of the pattern to make it work. A year or so back I had a go at reproducing the pattern from scratch but it’s incredibly fiddly. I actually ended up buying a second-hand Norwich kit on eBay (from the same season) with the intention of getting it scanned (once that’s done I can tweak the colours) but still haven’t gotten around to it, ha.

I have one in the attic. If I dig it out and scan it I'll DM you ;)
