Strongest 11 after 6 games (6 Viewers)

So McCallum got his first championship start last night and looked absolutely quality. Assured on the ball, strong when under pressure and a fantastic outlet as we played on the counter. The goal obviously came down his flank but the reality is if you play the wing backs high then it's always a risk, bit of quality from Ayew not unexpected!

For me we have to be looking at McCallum at LWB and Dabo at RWB when fit, gives us a big threat going forwards and I think McCallum gives us more defensively than Giles.

After Sheaf's performance last night I think we have 3 strong CM options in Sheaf, Hamer and Kelly and I think those 3 could work interchangeably

Unfortunately despite his goal I think Shippers has looked a bit out of his depth at this level, and would quite like to see Ryan Giles alongside O'hare behind Godden, Giles looks like a class act further up the pitch but think he's shakey defensively. My starting 11 below, thoughts?

Marko

Rose, Fadz, Hyam
Dabo McCallum
Kelly / Sheaf, Hamer,

O'hare Giles

Le God

Not exactly unheard of though is it? Turning an attacking full back to midfielder. We also have no pace up top, so I can see why the suggestion is made

i think the point is he’s a winger in the process of being turned into a WB by Wolves.

I only saw the last 20 mins last night (I’m 7 hours ahead where I am) but in that time Allen looked fantastic. He was all over the place, picking up loose balls, taking on a man, playing decent balls into decent areas. To me, just on that 20 minutes, it looked like he’s adjusting to the pace and intensity of the league.

I think it won't be long before Walker replaces Godden. A few games without a goal now and whether you agree or not with the decision he's not spent that much on Walker not to play, so unless we change our formation I think he has to score against Blackburn.

He was very good last 15, can’t disagree but that was his good spell.

I think he causes sides problems towards the end of the game, would like to see him off the bench for impact

Shipley O'Hare

Sheaf was much improved last night so will push and I hope Tyler Walker starts to get some opportunity and push on

Yeah it’s mad to suggest an attacking wing back moving to an attacking midfield role, like that’s never happened before

Yep it really is 😂 he is a winger turned into a wingback and is doing bloody well this season I don't get the hate at all, I suppose some people always need a scapegoat

How am I giving the bloke ‘hate’? . I’m saying he’s been better going forward than he has defensively. Do you think Giles should play over mccallum in that LWB position?

It's Giles' shirt to lose and so far he has done nothing to deserve to lose it so yes I'd play Giles ahead of Mccallum at the moment

He had a really good game. Has looked decidedly average until last night.

He got moved further forward when Kelly came on in place of Shipley and he is defo better in that attacking position rather than deeper / defensive mid one.

Also, it seems to me like his fitness has improved a lot.

Ideally we'd probably try and fit Hamer, Sheaf and Kelly into the first choice team. Given attacking midfield is one of the weaker spots with Allen/Shipley not entirely convincing so far, I wonder if we might change shape.

If I was MR I'd be trying to find a way to get all 3 CMs on the pitch at the same time.

I think before too long we’ll realise we need more going forward. Hopefully Walker is going to offer a lot, as we can’t just have O’Hare and Godden trying to hold up play and hope they can conjure something between them.
As great as the performance was last night, they barely had a sniff, and we’ve drawn at home.

I suggested this a couple of weeks ago and was absolutely dumped on by the 'never play a player out of their normal position' brigade. By taking McCallum in the first place, it must have been in Robins' mind. Why drop the man who has offered the most attacking potential so far for Shippers or Allen.

Hamer, Kelly and Sheaf (who has become undroppable in 20 minutes) in the same line up - interesting. Requires one of them - Hamer - to play out of position...

I don’t think Hamer would have any issues playing further forward

Got to love this site. Playing a winger at AM is the craziest idea ever encountered in football, but sticking a guy who has played DM and RB his entire career behind the striker makes perfect sense.
Aren't wingers just a form of attacking midfielder?
