Also, I'm not sure you are correct the polls predicted a narrow victory for Biden, quite the opposite

I don’t know which specific polls you’re referring to, but they’ve pretty much all pointed to a strong likelihood of Biden winning the election comfortably by flipping Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania (we’re moving in that direction now), and with a decent chance of him adding to that by flipping southern states like Arizona, Georgia, Texas, Florida and North Carolina (up to three of those are still in play). I don’t see how that translates to a brutal polling error.

The polls predicted a margin of 6 to 8% nationally its miles out

The networks in the US have called arizona for biden but they are still counting

Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Nevada would be enough and he has a chance in all 3. Michigan as well is likely to see biden start to get more votes as they are count postal votes last and there's lots of votes in Detoit.

Not say Biden will win but is this why Trump made his speech when he did?

Would much rather trump if I was an American, Biden can’t seem to put 2 sentences together defiantly not fit to run the most powerful country in the world.....can see it being close tho Florida will be crucial

You can hardly use that as an excuse for Trump. Take pretty much any of his speeches and just have the words he's said written down. It's pretty much unintelligible.

Most people were wanking over the polls.

A lot of those people are very quiet today.

They quite correctly saw that the state by state polls showed Trump was really up against it. Now that all the votes are being counted from early and post that’s bearing true. Diet Republican is going to beat full fat

I think it's time all of us in general change the way we view or believe polling... From brexit, to both US elections and even I some way the last GE before the exit polls... They are just not remotely correct anymore

They appear to be propoganda tools these days

The US polls are particularly flawed.

Our UK pollsters generally use double the sample size (2-3k respondents) to the US polls. Which, given the size of the two countries, is pretty crazy.

People do forget the anti-Hilary Clinton sentiment in the last American election.

She did win the popular vote but her support was at the lowest where it was needed, in the swing states.

I can see if the Democrats do win this then they will need to shake up the American Constitution. However, ask any sitting political party to change the way they are elected then it is mostly a no, no. This is because most politicians are self serving assholes who shouldn't be anywhere near power.

It doesn't look like the Dem's will have control of everything anyway to effect change to an electoral system that massively favours Rep's.

IF they did have the chance they should scrap the electoral college because millions of votes are just ignored by giving all the votes to one candidate even if it was only won by 0.1%. Imagine getting 20+ electoral college votes because a few thousand people more out of millions voted for a candidate. Ideally it should be abolished entirely for popular vote but at the very least those votes should be PR. This could at different times favour either Dem's or Rep's depending on the swing states

The black vote for Trump has gone up 4%.

The world has officially gone mad.

🤦‍♂️

Again it's the candidate. Biden doesn't have a great history with minorities either and certainly less so than Hillary. Hence the probable relative swing because it's not totally like-for-like. But it is still mad. Turkey's voting for Thanksgiving.

Whatever happens and whatever the result, I think we all agree that Biden was a very poor candidate for the Democrats to elect.

Trump should have been wiped out.
Awful candidate... They've struggled twice.. Should have been a walk in the park

Bernie Sanders was on course to win so the party higher ups forced everyone to drop out and support Biden. This is the consequence though he will just edge home

But Trump says he has won.

Any chance we could have a WBC/WBA scenario like in boxing and have two presidents?

As Trump tends to tweet throughout the night, Biden can do the day shift and Trump can take over as soon as Joe falls asleep.

But that would have Trump in charge for about 16 hours a day.

My only hope, which I think is a stretch... Is that the election result is honoured and respected... As is what should happen in any democracy..

If trump loses, I fear a tantrum of epic proportion

At the moment he’s still ahead in 4 swing states and two are 95% in. In Pennsylvania he’s miles ahead

The postal votes will move that state against him - it is not the first time that supreme courts have been involved
