He cost us the game. Had sheaf made the same pass he would be absolutely crucified but Teflon max is forgiven. He missed 2 good chances also so he was very culpable in the result last night

I agree, yeah a really bad mistake but they still had a lot to do. Ostegard should have taken the man and took the yellow card when he was still on his own half, ans McFadzean shouldn't have pushed him. He must have given away 5-6 penalties in his 50 appearances for us.

Pointing out what he did wrong is absolutely fine, but going that bit further and verbally abusing him on an internet forum is everything that is wrong with this world. 99% of people on here who verbally abuse him on here, or any other player would not say it to their face. The other 1% are just plain wrong. You think the players don't read this site??

We were on the wrong end of our own undoing last night. Having looked to all intent and purpose a win was coming, but unable to take those glorious chances we ended up paying a very unfortunate price. That is football and the fact it was the very last kick of the game just compunded it more. The odds of that happening must be extremely long!
We must not get hung up about it, we played well and wereby far the better side second half, playing some good stuff. Our game is coming together, we are more competative and are showing some good threats. Missing key players like Dabo also does not help. I wonder if we should resinstate Kelly who has a calming influence on games around the younger players?
The important thing is we played well and we will keep improving. We can ill afford many more games where we shoot ourselves in the foot, be it giving too many penalties away, red cards or presenting the opposition with a goal. Address those issues and we will be stronger for it. MacFaz was solid last night until the penalty. Oostigard on the other hand looks better with each game and I expect the natural successor to MacFaz, but he missed two clear chances when he should have scored. Nice to see O'Hare find form last night, Hamer and Sheaf ran midfield second half so there are some good positives. Still think we will be fine. We have played some of the top sides shaping up to be challengers this season so as things stand the opposition will get progressively easier at some point as we find our foothold. We need our best players fit and on the pitch. Who's to say we can't turn over Watford as we did Reading?

I would say, that if a player gets upset by what somebody with a comedy pseudonym says about them, they're probably not the temperament to cope with pressure when it matters.
Now, don't get me wrong, I agree wholeheartedly that a lot of the reaction has been OTT. He made a mistake but, he ain't the first this season! And overall his game was... OK. I agree, there's no reason to call him a c**t just because he made a mistake - not like he'd have planned to! But yeah, whatever his limitations, Max is also a fine example for players who may not have made it yet, are trudging around in non league, and should take note that working hard to make the best of what you have can take you a reasonable way.
I just get slightly worried if we can't say if we thought a player was shit. I don't think Biamou is, btw - he works hard, has certain assets, also has limitations which will mean we'll always be looking for better but... he has a place in the squad.
Ultimately though, we're in a place where if we all just sit here and agree every player is fantastic, there's not much point to being here at all.

Ostigard was already on a yellow , that’s why I think he didnt take him out , did anyone else think the late change was strange , swapping over Sam to left back bringing on de costa , was max‘s mistake worse than walkers at Middlesbrough ?

It was a bit random to bring on a player who hasn't played a match, not even U23 at the end of a game like that.
Wasn't like we were easily winning or easily beaten.

Sheaf did do almost the same thing against Reading although fortunately it didn't cost us the game.

Spot on.
Some of the verbal abuse of Max last night on this forum was unfair and to be honest shocking. It was almost as if some on here were waiting for Max to make a mistake to score some internet points and throw abuse. You know who you are. There's a huge difference between challenging team selections and pointing out areas for players to improve vs. kicking players on the ground when they are no doubt already devastated after making a mistake.
Most of our players have made key mistakes during their time with us including last season........ Marosi, Dabo, Rose, McFadz, Kelly, Sheaf, Hamer, Shipley and O'Hare (and that's just what I remember). I don't recall any of these players being abused to the extent of what I read last night.
To jump on a single player for one mistake after he'd had such a good game for us is mindless. Disappointment is one thing, throwing abuse and derision at a player for one mistake over 96 minutes is totally unjustified and certainly not helpful to the team and most importantly to the player.

Sheaf chipped the ball forward on 66mins towards halfway expecting Max to show for it (like he should have done) simple miscommunication.
João still had to skip away from 2 challenges & score from outside the area when he wasn't closed down effectively.
Biamou's was an utter suicidal pass backwards in the 96th minute giving them a free run towards our goal - the only way to prevent the goal then was for Østigård to take a red card.

Rose went to support Biamou and if you look is in acres so could easily have received the ball.

Cheers @Nick for this image but as you can see Rose is advanced to offer Max a simple pass, for reasons only he knows he ignored Rose to play that suicidal pass.

I don't doubt they do read it and yes certain comments are over the top but there is no doubt certain players are immune from criticism. Grimmer is another example. They are happy to take the adulation and butt licking on social media but don't like the down side. Works both ways

It was the 96th minute he didnt need to be so high up the pitch. He left a massive gap between him and McFadzean. I'm not excusing Biamous awful pass, but im sure when Robins and the team do the autopsy on that goal, they will identify a number of issues that led to the goal, not just Biamous poor pass.

But is where De Costa should have been. Its about being streetwise, and we are so naive on top of individual errors. An away point would have been something to build on after the reading win. There was no need to over commit.
