I dont like jumping on players but he is not championship standard and has contributed nothing today .
he needs to be off loaded and Max is definately above him in the pecking order for the third striker role

backa is league one at best and thats pushing it

Ironic really

People were losing their minds when he let the ball go for a corner

It must have been hard for you, as someone who doesn’t like to jump on players, to start a thread devoted to precisely that, only a few minutes after we’ve won a game. You have my condolences.
Just accept the truth he is shit. Have a look at all my previous posts and I dont slate players. Perhaps you should try being honest with yourself and realise he aint good enough

He’s not league 1 tho is he ? He played in by far the best side at league 1 level last year and struggled he’s always struggled when I’ve seen him at under 23 level. He lacks application, heart & know how to be a pro footballer.I’ve heard rumours he’s good in training so he’s probably one of them “a good trainer” he needs moving on strange why we even kept him This season.

Says it all when Walsall were glad to get rid off him and laughed when we paid a fee

I saw the same game as you, everyone can see he wasn’t up to scratch, just as he hasn’t been all season. But if you think our fourth-choice striker’s form is the most noteworthy thing about today’s game, then at least own it. Don’t pretend and give me this apologetic ‘ooh I don’t really like to jump on players’ routine at the start.

It’s funny you browse the Sunderland message board to find posts of them slagging players calling them terrible fans then do the exact same here
Not really they were moaning about an ex player who you anothers moaned about. Stones and glass houses spring to mind

I think he did a job today. He chased down the ball so they weren't able to settle when launching the ball forward. He had some heavy touches but equally some nice interplay with O'Hare. I think he could be more positive and take on players. Maybe that is just a confidence thing. I am not saying he is championship level yet but I don't think he did that badly.

Just hasn't got the right mentality, so little killer instinct. Was prepared to give him a chance but it just won't happen for him

Its like he needs an opposition player to bang his missus and put him in the zone.

For somebody so physically powerful he doesn't use it. He is also so quick but just doesn't use that.

He needs to be a bit nasty.

To me it also seems like a confidence issue as well

He did OK today.

Won a few headers, some nice one touch layoffs and pressed the defence.

Agree with the above that he needs either some confidence or a bit of nastiness (or maybe both.)

He was an odd signing for us when he came in, and he hasn't really done anything to dispel that. The occasional flash of promise, but never put anything together for a sustained spell at all, really. Hope for his sake as he seems a decent bloke (and maybe that's the problem!) that he's just a late developer, but that ain't going to be with us.

Also, he is (currently) our 4th choice striker.

People seem to want 4 championship quality strikers.

There are very few teams in this league who have 4 championship level strikers, nevermind a newly promoted team with one of the lowest budgets.

People need to adjust their expectations of our fringe/backup players.

Baka wasn’t disastrous today but nothing special. He had a few good touches and a couple excellent lay offs. Trouble is he isn’t a quick thinker...tends to lay off the way he is facing...very rarely turns and drives at defenders. Looked stupid allowing ball to run out of play but there was a touch...still could have turned to goal with the ball.
But max did look sharper when he came on.

His one touch first time passing today was first class, everything else was absolutely awful 😂

Lol, yes it was class but should have been forward not back.

He’s not awful by any means he’s frustrating as you think you should be getting more from such a specimen.

"To be a pro footballer"? Well that is what he is.
"Strange why we kept him this season" not really....you have to have a taker first, you cannot just bomb people out... it always suprises me how many fans dont understand this and think you can just move players on.

I agree. He is supposed to be one of the quickest players at the club along with Giles. He is tall and well built, yet Biamou, who is slighter is far stronger and wins many more headers. If Baka ran at defenders he would potentially cause problems, maybe not directly but through the second ball. He seems pacey when closing down but not when with the ball. Maybe he lacks that ability.

No chance Baka is faster than Giles he doesn’t even look that quick

But it depends on how much a contract extention costs agsinst bringing another forwsrd in?

A team like Coventry cannot afford 30 super stars. We need squad players, who we hope we can develop. They probably could not line up a better replacement for Bakayoko for the money. The strikers who they hoped to ship out was Kasteneer and Biamou - mainly on age.
