You’d be getting right pissed off after queuing in the rain for ages ‘only for Mable, Bet and Hilda to rock up ‘flutter their cataracts and get ushered straight in.

Happened to me in London once, the Astoria. Had to ask for a homeless dude’s shoes to be allowed in and I was. Never got the trainers back

In lockdown 1 local forces were advised by the National Police Chiefs’ Council to work on the basis that the length of the exercise had to be greater than the time spent on travel. Or something along those lines, can't remember the exact wording. Suspect they'll use similar this time as nothing seems to be defined.

Doubt anyone will be questioned unless they're driving for miles like those idiots that had to be rescued in the snow after they decided to take a day trip to the Peak District.
Don't intend to do miles, but had my fill of the housing estate in March and April. Know every road intimately, now!

It’s the only way out of the restrictions. Unite everyone behind it and keep people updated with weekly figures in relation to the target. No media spin, no taking credit for others’ accomplishments, just get that vaccine out to as many as you can in the shortest time.

But to get the vulnerable people done by mid feb you have to do the top 4 categories which is 14 million people or 2.3 million a week

What’s the biggest barrier to vaccinating - is it having enough doses or the infrastructure required?

With transmission rates as high as they currently are and the lockdown just being announced, I would imagine a lot of people would be reluctant to attend wherever it is they have to go to get the vaccine.
After all, it would be a nightmare to catch the virus whilst only venturing out to get protection from it.

Can they not do drive through vaccines? We have drive in test centres, just turn up with a vaccine card that has a qr code on it, show ID, roll your window down, stab and out.

With the pfizer vac I saw they were having to monitor people for 15minutes due to the reactions some were having. I don't know if that's still in place?

It's not for normal vaccines, my Mrs had the Flu jab and was back out before I had chance to park.

No. I mean for these covid vaccines. I'm fairly sure the old fella who had the first Oxford one said he had to wait for 15 minutes.
I had my first flu jab this year and didn't need to hang around.

With this vaccine you are required to go to an ante room for 15 mins after the jab to see if there are any immediate reactions to it.

Roads didn't seem much quieter this morning, it was 7.15 though so rush hour might be different.

My son is currently learning about survival techniques on Fortnite as his primary school haven’t had the time to turn around his remote learning for today given the lateness of the announcement, and I am working from home all day with meetings and student calls.

Well just told my work I’m not coming into the office. Their position last night was nothing has changed but I live with two OAPs and am not taking the risk.
Waiting to see what Mrs Wisdom's work decides. Yesterday, they told her not to come in this week, so you'd *hope* they'd be sensible...

Said to my girls I’ll set them work cos they can’t expect remote learning with a 12 hour turn around when 8 of those hours are sleep

Same here - he will do some reading, and some English and Maths work in some booklets we bought for the first lockdown.

it's bullshit, he needs to be realistic that is what is wrong

You and BSB are both kind of right. The mid Feb sounded like an aim to offer everyone in risk groups the vaccine. How and when restrictions are lifted was then heavily caveated. The governments ability to manage expectations has been poor throughout this, but to get people’s buy in you need to give them hope that the end is in sight.

A daily update on vaccination numbers would be useful and I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets brought in mid/late Jan when they have higher numbers of vaccines being manufactured and all the systems are in place to administer it quickly are fully up and running
