I have been to the Rugby at Bath - after the match there is a mahoosive marquee outside and the people just move from the stands into there and carry on drinking - they have live music on - it’s a great atmosphere - they have proper beer and you use your own plastic mug - they must make a fortune

Love those ideas Shmmeee but I reckon that Wasps won't be bending over with any deal given/agreed. I'd guess at pretty much "as you were" with some sort of pitch agreement.... but who knows..... !?!??

I reckon if the supporters are the ones doing the pushing anything is possible

Playing at Ricoh Arena will never feel like playing away at all, Its the stadium built for us in Coventry. It's Just not owned by the owners of Coventry City. Lots of clubs don't own the stadium they play in, no reason at all why it cant be made to feel like home in the way it was from 2005 until 2013 when SISU moved us away. Yes there have been some major problems caused by both sides but its still Coventry City's home stadium in my eyes.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this and there will still be opinions for and against 5 and 10 years down the line, no matter where we are. And like the SiSu/Wasps rent discussion, there are times when fans will never agree, whatever the question

Good points, but when you have a council authority and a rugby club that are anti the local football club that it was built for plus owners of the football club that have looked for any excuse not to play there is it any wonder we are in the state we're in. This is despite our owners under Robins being classed as recovered there reputation somewhat in the eyes of a lot of fans who are tired of protest.

Think people might be overestimating the council going against the club. They're not against the club, they're just really, really stupid. Look at the state of the city in general if you need proof of that. West Orchards was valued at 37mill just 8 years ago. It sold for just under 4 last month.

They destroyed the swimming pool because it was old and not making money only to replace it with a much more expensive one...which is also not making any money.

They spent millions on building museums (since when was cov a tourist spot?) only for them to be struggling. The plan for Ikea? Turn it into a museum

They built the cathedral shopping building...only to have completely failed to have a reason for it since.
They paved the area outside it now which in a few years time will start to fall apart due to the wear and tear etc. Going by the state of the streets in cov, they won't keep it in good condition.

They seem to have the attention span of a child and lack any ability to think of the long term implications of their actions.

I don't think the "feud" was "randomly" started.
Somebody will know why, (CCC/SISU insiders), but a feud developed, and what a feud! - Think possibly something based around the Higgs Charity and it developed to the point that CCC cared nothing of the plight of the football club in their conquest to make life as difficult as they could for the owners of said football club - No matter what you might think - it is 100% true.

Our meeting with the council didnt ever get minuted unfortunately but there were some interesting comments

Martin Reeves had not spoken to Joy Seppalla for 7 + years

Mark and I got the distinct impression that they were utterly sick of everything going on. Don’t know whether they wanted to convince us they had nothing to be blamed for but we were only interested in getting them to do something about getting parties to speak and do something to help.

They didn’t think they could ( they could) they accepted a successful footbal club is massive for the city so it would be worth some time and effort

The figures were tiny compared to the overall budget of coventry so it was understandable they focused on what they could impact

The biggest surprise was they were all in the meeting

Leader and deputy of both parties although conservative guys couldn’t make it and Martin reeves and the lawyer

As I said earlier on this thread earlier the book at some point will be fun to write

That's spot on Pete, as I said SISU started the ball rolling the council and it's officials well it seemed like they escalated it over the Las few years and as usual it's the fans that don't have our club in the city that bears our name.

They invested heavily into the wasps project and to turn back from that is impossible - you say the people are stupid - well stupid people are often blinkered and refuse to do what’s best

The council were very keen on the Ricoh project and leant heavily on weak people at the club to originally ensure it went through as it was a way of regenerating dead land with pretty low funding by the council

They were seduced by Daniel Gidney and his absurd “vision” of having a centre which could rival the NEC and viewed the club as a nuisance

They never wanted the club to own the stadium until of course it starting going south and became a liability not an asset

Interesting note slipped in at the end of Bridge's latest PR piece.

Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP), which has been made via an allocation of funding as part of the Government’s Getting Building Fund, and from the Government’s Local Growth Fund and Growing Places Fund.

The CWLEP funding will also be supporting the development of a new pavilion and launch of a Commonwealth Convention Centre at the Ricoh Arena.

Does that mean they're getting more taxpayer money or is this the money they supposedly needed to get the venue up to scratch for the Commonwealth Games not being used for its intended purpose.

This is so true. Local goverment strategically bet on commercial retail (high street) in the last 5 years when it was obvious to most with half a brain that Amazon and other online retailers were squeezing the margins and would force many out of business. Like most thing LG do they are about 5 years behind the curve.

Best thing for the pitch would be not have any concerts on it over the summer, and ensure the groundman is from a football background not rugby. We should always play before the rugby is both have to play at home same weekend too

Not sure on that might be the opposite, anyone with deep enough pockets to buy ccfc and knowing the apparent financial situation at Wasps could be in a strong position I would have thought to cement us at the Ricoh on his terms, I’m not a big Ricoh Arena fan I’m old school have perhaps too with many HR memories. If it were me buying ccfc I would be looking to share a big part of the Arena.

Bristol City have a state of the art pitch to accommodate football and rugby, but not sure of the cost.
