Which classic car would you have? (9 Viewers)

Thanks to watching Bangers & Cash and Wheeler Dealers I love some of the classic cars and if I had the resources and a decent garage I have narrowed my choice down to 3 & they are all luxurious cars as I am too old to be charging around in a sports car.



A Citroen DS 23 or 25, I always loved these when I was younger especially the way the suspension lifted up.



A Rover P5, so elegant and luxurious.



My favourite, a Rover P6. When I started going to watch CCFC I would occasionally get a lift to away games in one of these.

First one's a Humber Sceptre MkIII. I'd also take a Hunter GLS like below. Square, boxy, but fast for their day. Bottom one is a Sunbeam Imp. I like the dual headlights, and the thought of rear engined quirkiness appeals. I know they're boring everyday in a way but, they're the cars of my childhood!

There's a classic Jaguar show room, Guy Broad, on Browns Lane. I sometimes drive past there and fantasise about buying one. Absolutely beautiful and Coventry made.

Yeah you're right, I think he specialises in parts and repairs for classic jag's too, so that's probably most of his business. Plus at the prices of those motors you'd only have to sell one every so often!

The actual petrol station has closed down now, not sure if he owns that too but there's a couple of cars in there too.

There was an old jag racing car that was in there (not sure if it still is) but looked amazing in all the livery.

Top one is a Lancia Flaminia coupe, bottom is an ISO Rivolta. Both quite... expensive. Will have to make do with the scale models

It depends as some people think that anything over 20 years is classic and over 40 is antique. I prefer over 40 years to be classic and the added bonus of cars built before 1980 is no MOT or car tax.

The first car of my Dads that I can remember was a racing green Hunter...nut sure if it was a GLS or not.....it did have "overdrive" though.

I had a spanking new 156 sportwagon when they came out...1999?...I still worked for "the man" back then & managed to wangle it as company estate car no less!

Light blue 2.0 T-spark veloce with full leather, climate control & a CD player...fantastic motor......so much so that I didn't even mind pounding the motorways doing 40K business miles per year.....

These days I'm normally on a push bike (some of which are classics) or drive an 8 year old van if the dog joins me at work.....

...and on very sunny days, and if the fucker starts, I can occasionally be spotted on my 1962 Lambretta

I've had bikes since I was 16 and currently have a BMW F800ST and I will be 60 in December but as I've got older have preferred the safety, warmth and comfort of a car. If I lived in a warmer & drier country than Scotland, and England, then I think I may be tempted with an old Triumph T100/120 as well as my chosen cars.

I like to go fast on my push bike....not so keen on speed on a motorbike or scooter.

My lammy is a slow white knuckle ride anyhow......no indicators, no mirrors, split-rims, tubed tyres, drum brakes & the speedo needle snapped off years ago.....it'll do about 65 MPH flat out with a following wind......but then it takes about 5 mins to stop the bugger!

Have had one or two of these, including a VW splitty van. It was only an 1100 as well. Probably the slowest thing I ever owned, and that includes a Ford Pop!
Also had an Imp Super. Fitted a Nikki twin choke and a stage 2 head and cam. Spent most of the rest of its life under a cloud of steam on the side of the road.
I've had a few hydro Citroens over the year, and nothing comes close to the ride, but I've always lusted after a DS, so That'd probably be my choice (or maybe the rather more exotic SM).

Always quite fancied a P5B Coupe too.
Great engine, and chunky good looks as well.
Mate of mine had a P6B which I often used to borrow. Loved it, but the 5 was that bit more 'special' somehow.

Interesting P5 Rover fact. It’s the car that delivered Maggie Thatcher to No. 10 for the first time.

What car would you have?

Have been off work of late for a few weeks (Sciatica) and have been watching Wheeler Dealers and Chasing Classic Cars every weekday morning. It's something to be immensely proud of to see how many of the cars featured were built in Coventry. All the old Jags including the truly iconic E-type, all the old Triumphs (Stag excepted), the Sunbeam Alpine to name but most of them..
