Think there’s space for 5 strikers if we are going to stick with 2 up top. Likely to have 1 injured at least at any one time so 2 starting and 2 on bench.

That’s what Tavares is for I imagine

I’d look to make a cheeky double bid. £2.5m for both osti and gyokeres????

Roughly what we spent in total last close season to stay where we were this season though.

I’d splurge on Østigård (ooo err) because we need a CB and he’s quality and I actually love him. Györkeres is more of a gamble IMO, I’d rather spend the money on another CB or a GK I think.

Wonder whether that’s correct. If you are 600k for sheaf. The rest on osti and loans and free transfers??

That's an interesting point.....are clubs having more subs again next year - on the bench and being able to use five, or is it back to original amount, in which case perhaps we don't need as many?

I actually think we will get Gyokeres on a free, he's been at Brighton for 3 years now and not kicked a ball for them, his loan spell at Swansea was a disaster, and up until Wednesday his spell here was ......meh.

The Lad will be wanting first team opportunities, and he ain't getting that anytime soon at Brighton.
We may have to pay a development fee or whatever it's called, but I think we will grab him like we did with O'hare.

I think MR can do what he did with Mark McNulty, and turn Gyokeres into a real force.

no I said he looked ok weeks ago - he does look raw

Yes he looks raw because he is young and inexperienced. But you can also see some natural ability and natural footballing skills. More than enough for coaches to work with.

I wouldn't be disapointed with Godden, Walker, Gyokeres and then Biamou as a cheap squad option next year. As long as they are fit which applies to whoever you have.

If we could upgrade on any of them I would not cry either.

I think goalkeeper is one position you can probably get on a free if you want more experience.

If we are to progress next season a better striker than all of our options this season is required. Obviously finding one is the difficult part

I’d happily have him back. Don’t want to rush into getting him on loan as a 3rd choice striker who other than injuries would start half a dozen games and get 15 mins from the bench once a fortnight. I’m not even sure how many subs are allowed next year. I’d optimistically hope for a free or a nominal fee.
We were compelled to send Giles back / have him recalled due to having too many loanees last year. Ideally I want our loan players to improve the first team, not the squad.

Think there is a decent target man in him who can chip in 10 goals a season. Brings the ball down well on his chest and is strong. At the moment he looks clumsy with the ball at his feet but with coaching I reckon he could be a decent player in this league. Offers something different and would be happy with him plus one new striker to challenge Walker and Godden next season.

I’d sign Michael Smith from Rotherham purely for a plan B option. He’s a lump, and has 10 goals this season.

Genuinely can’t believe that some think we’d be fine next season with the current strikers minus Baka....

We've been fine this season (just) despite not really having Godden & Walker for a large chunk of the season. That's not to say I'd go with the same 4. Gyökeres is at the age where you'd expect year on year improvement. Always said if we replace players it should be upgrades on starters so I'd personally take that route even if it meant keeping Biamou as 4th choice.

I dont think Godden is a good enough first choice; not got the speed or file for the championship. I’ve been a bit disappointed in Walker (but clearly not fully COVID recovered) but I’m sure he will improve next season. Gyokeres done enough for a third choice. Need to give max and Baka a chance at first team football by moving them on to L1 clubs.
So for me it’s a new lead striker and a decent 4th choice needed; the later can be brought on from youth or non league. For a number one striker we need to spend big or hope to get a quality premier loan

Really think we won't have a big enough budget for a striker established in this league so mayber a rough diamond in the mould of victor with long term promise if not thee man himself but feel he will need a lot more work on the training ground.

There is a loan market, going to be some good young prem strikers about.

Personally I think Gyokeres could score a lot next season if he stays at the club (on loan or permanently) but I’m not sure he’ll be worth the risk of a lot of money

I'd stick with Wilson and Marossi next season to be honest and use money elsewhere. Whilst both have flaws, neither are calamitous like Burge. If one is injured, I'd be 'relatively' ok with the other one coming in. I think CB and CM should be the focus.

To be fair, if we were guaranteed a full season of injury free Godden and Walker next season, I think I'd genuinely be ok with that. I'd be sure we'd get 20-30 goals between them if they stayed injury free.

Our issue this season has been when they've both been out and we had Max and Baka as the options before Gyorkeres came in.

CM?

Surprised at that. I think it’s the one area we’re OK.

If I have to choose between Gyokeres or Biamou I’d take Max but we need another as priority buying strikers is a nightmare for any manager, going back over our history of big money at the time signings failures Chris Chilton, Kevin Drinkell, Bobby Graham, Tony Hateley all regular goal scorers at the time but all flopped here and probably our best Ian Wallace was a bargain at£40k.
