Got to be pleased with this acquisition experienced, knows this division and will occupy defenders and an improvement on Max & Baka. Will we add another ? Might but have Fabio Taveres bags of pace apparently and been here six months so he might be ready. Can’t wait for next in coming.

How much would a prolific 22yr old League 2 striker cost though?

Last time I can remember a Championship club signing a similar player was Bristol City spunking a million quid on Mo Eisa (24) or Wigan signing Omar Bogle (23) which were both a disaster & they ended up dropping to League One & struggling there too. Big losses made on both players.
Last successful one was probably Ollie Watkins but he cost £6.5m.
It's not as easy as you think, English market is massively overinflated.
Fair point. Even McWankty was £1.2m coming from L2 and he couldn't keep off the beers.

Who says he's third choice??

He's first choice all day long imo.

That doesn't mean...Godden and Walker won't get a look in. All 3 will all get plenty of game time.

Still need a 4th choice.
Think robins will play the players in form as he always says the players who show most on the pitch have the shirt, also can everyone see godden being 100% from the start?

If we add Viktor then we will have 4 forwards that would provide options and allow us to play two up front in pairs and give us the option of making double substitutions in the second half .

Derby paid £5 million for him three years ago, I doubt he's going to be a backup striker, even if his recent record doesn't scream obvious starter. He's clearly an upgrade on Biamou though, who played a lot last season, so this is an important signing. Just hope we've got some money left over and this isn't our big splash of the summer.

With Godden's recurring injuries it could result in Waghorn and Walker being the choice by default most of the time. Those three are decent choices to have though.

Mobile target man next surely?

I would be looking at Ellis Simms from Everton or Marcus Forss from Brentford on loan.

Both tick the target man with pace box

Decent signing and as has been said, with Godden’s inevitable injuries, we’ll be lucky to get 20 games out of him. Reasonably happy with the forward options now and actually expect Walker to step up as the main goal scorer. Hopefully Waghorn has been brought in with a view to playing in a two with one of Walker/Godden.

I think Godden may go

Good signing.

In some ways I can appreciate the tepid reactions; he’s been around a while, maybe viewed as a journeyman by some, not a great precious season etc, but we aren’t financially in a position to sign someone like that i.e. young high potential etc. Plus I’d still expect us to make that signing but in a less risky way via the loan market, which doesn’t usually come to life until late summer.

It’s also a big plus to have some experience in the squad, especially at that end of the field, and his goal scoring record is good.

He’s a good addition to the squad, one more striker that offers something different to the other three and we’re sorted for next year in that area.

Very happy with this… thought he was solid at Derby. We look light on pace but it depends on our style of play next year. Starting to get that bit of excitement ahead of the new season

He has experience (which we need), played and tested at this level, gets goals and assists.

So on paper a good signing I think. However, it does not matter who you sign or what their pedigree is , you never know if it will work out until they pull on the shirt for you.

To me this seems like a good signing and I am feeling positive.

Googled his name their paper is giving fans reaction most are not bothered he’s gone

Fans are not always the best judges. Look at ours with Max. A player who was very likeable, was committed and improved while he was with us. It was a shame he was not 5 years younger as he might have been worth persevering with.

But the bottom line is, he wasn't a natural finisher and wasn't good enough for the level we are now at.

Last game of the season, but great example of what Wagz brings to the team. A headed goal, an assist and a very good penalty.

Watkins cost £2m but take your point, and still too much for us. Also took him a while to bed in at Brentford.

Quite happy with this signing. Perhaps need a 4th striker to be 6ft plus to give us another option though. I'm not sure there will be an obvious 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd choice scenario and that MR will chop and change his forward options from game to game, as he did at the end of last season when he tended to use each of our 4 main strikers in every game. That way all the strikers will see plenty of game time, although injuries or tactical decisions to revert to one up front may impact on that.
