Er yes if they are socially distanced and not together for more then 15 minutes. Factories don’t close when someone is positive
Ah ok slightly different to you saying what you did. Any close contacts would need to self isolate with a positive test.

Only if the app says so

But in that situation how can it ever be avoided by any government action as the risk is always now going to exist
From what I've seen a lot of CV and CEV people, including myself and my family, were relatively confident with a move back to normality with some precautions still in place and an attempt from the government to minimise the spread of the virus. I'm not talking about anything that would require businesses to remain closed but things like masks on public transport & crowded areas, testing & vaccine passports for access to events, that kind of thing.

This is in line with what experts were saying and what is recommended in the most recently released SAGE minutes. It was obviously the plan at one point as test events have operated that way and the NHS have a vaccine passport app.

The recent announcement has removed that confidence. Even if it is not the intention the impression given by the government is 'let it rip' and doing absolutely nothing to prevent cases surging. Not helped when Johnson is asked what the modelling shows the impact of this will be on hospitalisations and deaths and can't answer.

Pretty sure its not just my family going through this.

A lot of the country - those in manufacturing- have worked through the whole pandemic

surely we are all in it together - or are supermarket workers, pubs, track workers collateral damage in the white collar worker eyes?

soon you’ll be whining at having to lay higher taxation - oh hold on you already have
Didn't the Jag furlough loads on the track? Thought you worked there? Or is that not manufacturing?

Are we?

I read something that said French nightclubs open today. We were about 10 weeks ahead of them on the vaccine rollout.
Spain opened up in May when cases were low. Its led to a surge in cases. The decision to open up was described as “premature and dangerous” by the former director of Health in Crisis Situations for WHO, "first release of the state of emergency, then the end of curfews, then the opening of nightlife, then the end of obligatory mask wearing, led to a false sense of security and social interaction that is not protected”.

Israel opened up and saw cases surge once the delta variant got in. That led to the reintroduction of mask wearing and there's now talk of other restrictions coming back in. They're ahead of us in terms of percentage vaccinated.

Can't find any other country that has relaxed restrictions while cases, hospitalisations and deaths are all increasing.

They’ve been back since last august and I don’t work there

Test trace and isolate they ask the person who there close contacts are and contact them. The app is used too

I’ve said under HR rules they aren’t close contacts

Yep you did. Sounds like workplace have taken precautions to avoid issues. Once social distancing is removed likely increase in positive tests

Nope as they will still be within the rules close contact of less than 15 minutes is permitted as per the you gov advice

You are literally proving my point about paranoia - I have no idea how old your parents are but I know workers of 70 who have worked through and show none of those fears at all

You do realise that people are individuals and so will react differently regardless of how similar they may seem to be.

Also if someone who has had someone they know suffer badly or die from Covid is going to be more wary than someone who hasn't. Same as someone who has a history of cancer etc in their family is going to be more fearful of it than someone who doesn't. Had a boss who wasn't afraid of doing stuff and was a bit dismissive of those who were more introverted until he had a stroke in his early fifties and although he luckily didn't have any major issues afterwards in terms of movement/speech etc he became far more careful.

One of my relatives died of COVID at a relatively young age so again you make sweeping assumptions about me.

Pick and choosing which rules to follow then shaming others. Sounds familiar!

Not really. It was set up before the vaccine roll out. I’m prepared to every day do lateral flow tests but a generic lockdown for 10 days if you’ve been in a pub near someone who tested positive when you’ve had both jabs is an entirely different scenario

So you’re deciding not to protect others then

There will be lots of pubs packed tomorrow and many will have people breaking rules. Should police do raids and arrest them?

It's not really fit for purpose any more.

Sorry to hear that but I wasn't saying it about you specifically. It was a general statement than on the whole is true. There are some individuals who will of course be different. Take Boris - he nearly died and still doesn't take the situation that seriously.

Yeah, the government need to change the rules before 19 July. Said the other day people will just delete the app if you don’t need it to get into places which is not what anyone wants as it’s useful to know if you’re at greater risk of catching it (just move to testing if you’ve been pinged from 19 July)

You wouldn’t be pinged then. It’s 15 minutes close contact.

So it really is a free for all then as everyone will use the worst case scenario to justify their selfish behaviour towards others. Lots of people get pissed up and act like pricks doesn’t mean the rest of us should. At least Boris was honest. Freedom day will be

100000 infections a day
100 deaths
1000 hospitalisations
1250 long Covid cases

And that’s ok even though by keeping social distancing and masks we could reduce some of this we should just say fuck it what’s the point

Japan cancelling spectators at olympics
Israel making masks compulsory indoors

We are the only country with exponentially increasing infection rates with a highly transmissible variant saying no more, do what you think is best all will be ok

Wow

It's a good point about the outlooks of people who have carried on working and their views and people who haven't.

It's like different worlds with some things.

Yeah I agree. And if you’ve not been out you’ll see hidden dangers everywhere

When I was trying to get my mum to be more careful as she’s clinically extremely vulnerable my sister was saying don’t be anxious or worried. And I was like I’m not I’m concerned for mum.

You make a really good point though as does Grendel in terms of work.

The final tomorrow will have some impact, they’re on about thousands at Wembley without tickets on the streets.

I don’t actually mind tbh but it’s going to cause mayhem in terms of infections

I still think the media are to blame in part too. If you're sat at home hearing scary stuff and numbers all day every day.

That prick Dr Hillary making out everybody is going to die every day.
