So?

It's a regular question that is asked pre-season.

Another on the list of banned topics on here then.

Come on, don’t be stupid- nobody said that.

But we don’t even know what our squad is going to be, why the mad pressure for IMMEDIATE ANSWERS RIGHT NOW OR ITS A COPOUT

It;'s literally not asking for immediate answers but rather an early prediction.

Are these sites being extreme or is it a normal thing to do close season?

No, not extreme at all. Are they also telling people that not answering is a copout & attracts a ban on opinions until May?

I'm not saying not answering is a copout, I'm saying bitching about the question is fucking tedious when you could just move on if you're not bothered instead of trying to moderate opinion.

But you just literally said that not answering because it’s too early is a copout?

You're right I did. It isn't a copout as nothing is on the line yet and its early.

I am just finding the current obsession on here to shut everything down fucking tedious.

It’d be nice if people could just disagree instead of all the personal attacks and claiming you hate the club like a teenage tantrum.

I dont reply to every overly optimistic post calling the poster a stupid c**t and saying they’re living in lala land.

I wasn’t aware anyone was, it’s a fair question to ask and I don’t care what the answers are seeing as it’s July- but saying that if people don’t answer it’s a copout- I don’t agree, that’s all.

It's getting out of control. I think I should probably take a break cos it's doing my head in.

Watching us live on Saturday should remind me why it's all worth it (until we get battered 5-0)

If people are telling you that you hate the club it’s a bit weird… not sure why someone who hates CCFC would post on a CCFC board

As the squad stands now, then yes, strengthen defensively I would be hopeful for an improvement from last season, so voting now it would be yes but could change

We had a lot of injury problems last year, hopefully this year will be better...
If we replace Ostigard, McCallum and James (with better or equivalent quality) whilst keeping hold of O'Hare & Hamer, we might be a little more comfortable this season. We look stronger in attacking areas with Waghorn, Bright & Jones. Dabo staying fit this season would be a huge plus point in strengthening us from last year, he was never right last season...

But what about the others around us have they recruited or got rid of players I reckon for many the latter for example are Millwall who we battered 6-1 at the end of last season better equipt than us, I doubt it.
They were comfortably above us all season and we are yet to replace several key players, so I’d say, yes.

Ever the optimist, I again don't get the pessimism.

Yes we need more players...couple more defenders and maybe one more midfielder. MR and his team will be working on that. Our loans last season were by and large good so let's see who comes in.

But based on my faith in the management team to fill the gaps, then I'm confident we'll be mid table without looking over our shoulder all season...maybe some of it.

Genuinely think last seasons starting situation really hampered us for a few months. We've got a lot of the same squad, a year more experienced and if we can cut out the silly pens and red cards (that will come with being more street smart) and have some luck with injuries, we'll be just fine.

Unfortunately the poor business so far doesn't fill me with optimism. We've bought in a goalkeeper who looks like he's never played football, a striker that's washed and over the hill and last years Swedish Baka.

If we lose the 1st game then I think we are in trouble. If we win, then I think we will be fine. If we draw, then I'm not sure.

If we lose the 2nd game then I think we are in trouble. If we win, then I think we will be fine. If we draw, then I'm not sure.

If we lose the 3rd game.................

Lots of water to go under the bridge yet just over two weeks to go to the big kick-off and nearly 6 until the transfer/loan window closes. We need a CB & LB and another midfielder but wether we get them in before end of August I’m not sure, I think our squad fully fit is better than we had this time last season and with a years experience under its belt.

With another experienced body centre of defence also an left sided defender ,wing back ,then if dabo and rose start fit feel we will do ok.
Easy to class these friendly hammerings as suicidal and judge our season on them but it's forest when the real business begins and if we go through preseason without a win as long as we beat forest I don't give a monkeys.

I think the loan market is going to be key for us, normally I’m not fan of it but this time we can fill areas we need especially in defence while some of our young hopefuls can develop and step up. I’d think we have developed a good reputation in that market and clubs in the Premiership will recognise that.

Millwall have made 5 new signings to date

Logically we will be bottom third.

Defence currently is weaker. Two key players gone, one nearing 35, one with injury issues and who actually when played looked struggling at this level and rose and Hyam neither of whom looked great

Like I said the loan market is going to be crucial this time, by end of August when the window shuts we will have played Forest, Barnsley, QPR & Reading all teams we need to emulate if we are to progress to the next level.

Anyone who has seen the Second XI will understand why we lost 5-0.

It was an U23s team with a couple of first team in there.

I have faith in Robins but my concern is that we were at our most effective last season when we got the ball up to Max quickly and got people running beyond him.

It seems that we don’t have that option this year (Gyokeres is taller but doesn’t impose himself in the same way) so our system relies on passing through the lines all the way up the pitch and I fear that we don’t have the players capable of sustaining this for a whole season.

Having said that, we did start last season playing well, and were able to impose ourselves on other teams, just couldn’t convert our chances, so in that respect we may have enough up front to make this work. Still the same at the back though , and arguably weaker without Ostigard.

I would sign:
1 x pacy centre back (Left sided preferably. Has anyone seen Ricardo Santos play at Bolton - I haven’t seen him play but I read two or three articles about him last season and he sounds like someone who could be a good target)
1 x LWB
1 x CM
