Have to say when I saw he was doing an interview my first thought was... Uh oh!

... But he hasn't claimed to be better than anyone else at Cov this time! Interesting enough read though.

I don't get why it's so terrible to think you're better than your competitor for a position. As long as you try to prove people wrong rather than sulk, surely we want our players to think they're good enough?

Classic “no disrespect”. Up there with “no offence” and “I’m not being funny but” for signalling you’re about to say something offensive/disrespectful.
'To be honest'
'No word of a lie'
'If I'm being honest'

You bullshitting bastard!

Yeah said he was better than the other RB to a fan podcast.

The way that footage is recorded, I'm not sure Kane realised he was being filmed and was speaking off the record. Even so, self belief is good but airing it is a sure way to get yourself "sent to Coventry" :)

It's not about believing you're good enough or better. If you're not in the team, its because the Manager thinks the other player is better or in more form. Airing your dissent effectively challenges the Managers decision and doesn't put you in a good position with your teammates. And it makes you sound big headed. Better option is to accept the Managers opinion, work harder on the training ground and give him reasons to reconsider who is best for that position.

So far I think he’s trying to live up to the “ hard man” tag but that’s not we need we need 90+ minutes from him on the pitch. McFadz will guide him I’m sure anyway ex-QPR v Millwall, what could possibly go wrong?

Thinking it is fine.

Saying it is another thing altogether, it undermines the manager and clearly it didn't go down well with the manager, player and fans.

Player: "I think I'm good enough to play, I feel I'm better than the bloke currently playing."
Manager: "OK then, prove it to me."
Player: "You watch me boss."

What, actually, is dissenting about that?

Nothing, but that's not how it went.

That's fine if said in private in the manager's office and if that's how the actual conversation went.

But saying you're better than a teammate in public is not the way to go about things

Private chat with Manager in his office, fine. Moaning to a random who happens to be recording it is going behind everyones back. Bet anyone would be pissed if someone on their team was demeaning the work they did and saying they'd do a better job.

I really don't care if a player says they think they should be in the team because they're good enough. We'll all find out if they're right or not, after all.

It may not matter to you or 100,000 other fans around the country. It did matter to Warburton, the QPR team and the QPR fans. They felt what he'd said was below the acceptable line and canned him for it. We've given him a fresh start and he's already proving to be a worthwhile addition to the team. Let's hope he continues and gets the Scotland callup he wants.

No manager in pro football could accept a player saying publicly that he should be in the team ahead of whoever the manager is picking
His authority would be destroyed and every other player not getting a game would feel they can have a free pop at the Gaffer
It would be anarchy
If anyone did it here you wouldn't see their arse for dust

I did like him turning and saying something back to the Millwall fans giving him stick yesterday in the first half. I thought he did pretty well for us yesterday

My comments aren't anything to do with his ability as a footballer, but what is it with people from Cambridgeshire thinking they are so hard? They can't even say 'and' properly without it sounding like 'und'.

He did seem like a bit of a bellend in the post game interview as well.
