Keeper has not spoken to other clubs

Coventry City's 25 year old Irish international goal keeper Kieren Westwood had admitted he has not spoken to any other club about a potential move away from Coventry and he says he has not ruled out signing the vastly improved contract that has been offered to him by the club.
Westwood has famously refused to agree to the new deal offered to him in September last year. The club has also insisted that there have been no enquiries for him, but that has not prevented speculation that Westwood would be sold in January to recoup some money rather than letting the valuable asset move for nothing when his contract expires in the summer.
"Anything could happen and you never say never," said Westwood. “At the end of the season if we get promoted we are having a fantastic conversation.”
Despite Westwood's apparent reluctance to sign the proffered new contract, he is being open minded where he will play, saying, “I have never said I have ruled it out."
“At that time I said that wanted to see where the club were going and it is still the same. Nothing has changed really and I am just working hard like I always do.”
Responding the press speculation, he said, “Since I have been here there has been a lot of paper talk and hearsay but I just get on with my job. I do work hard at what I do and that’s not going to change. I have had speculation ever since I was 19 and playing for Carlisle and it has never really affected me in terms of my performance, whoever I have played for.”

Wat do u think la la la? I was real happy wen I first saw this, but it basically says, if we get promoted he'll stay...I kinda thought that anyway, if we were in the PL why wud he move to b a possible bench warmer.. the chances, I believe, of us gettin promotion is very slim, so I've already made my peace with him leaving...

I think its either Premier league so he can get an improved contract offer from Cov or move elsewere. :(

Not sure, i read it as where the club are at! So if we say reach the play offs and fail or give it a dam good go, he may still feel we are improving and stay.

I think we should just prepare for the very worst that could happen, Gunnar, Westwood and whoever else is in their final year. I'm ready if Westwood goes, but to me, the club isn't, and i'm really worried what might happen to us if we lose all our star players.. :(

We'll be in free fall if we lose our best players. I'm hoping that come the end of the season that he'll be happy enough to stay! I'm thinking along the lines of his wife is settled and with the baby as well!

Its not great when we cant get players to sign new deals. I wish their were signs of improvment but not sure that has happened. cant blame players like Westwood and Gunnar for wanting to test themselves higher up. Think the squad is looking very light at the moment. :(

Can I just remind everyone this piece is a couple of weeks old, and the view at City seems to have changed since then - still beat Brum and who knows.
