As much as Hyam gave the ball away, having watched it back Byrne who crossed it ran 60 yards, Maatsen didn't bother to track him at all.

Hamer was ball watching from the cross too

Look where Dabo is when Shinnie is about to finish it.

I assume when Hyam misplaced the pass he was well into their half - he’s not getting back

Maatsen is further out and it came down his side.

Maatsen Yellow, Byrne Blue

Picture one, this is where Maatsen and Byrne are when they win the ball.

Picture two, Byrne busts a gut to get forward, running past Maasten in his own half to get to the forward position to cross the ball in and Maatsen isn't even in frame when he got to the crossing position. He has done this a number of times including in the hammering against Luton.

Maybe but their only shot on target all afternoon and they should have been 2 or 3 down by that point. Yes I’m mainly still just pissed off from that second half

Did we have a real shot on target in open play

I did say during the Preston game that Hyam always gives the ball away, honestly the guy is a fucking liability with the ball at his feet!

Usually when a mistake leads to a goal there’s 2 or 3 other things that contribute to it. We still had plenty of chance to stop them scoring. Maybe that it why Robins was referring to people being tired.

Kelly didn't get back into the penalty area either did he? He was the sub and the deepest lying midfielder at the point Hyam lost it

JCS was too slow to close down too.

Hyam takes the brunt of the blame for sure, but as others have said there's about 4 players who could have done more (as is often the case with most goals).

There will always be mistakes made in defensive areas. It's just more likely when you are constantly being attacked as at Preston 2nd half and large chunks of yesterday in 2nd half.
The real problem was not offering any threat going forward ourselves.

Yep, baffled how no one has mentioned JCS in this. Positioning is poor. Lackluster attempt to win the ball.
