After the amazing success of the likes of Ponticelli and Bremang t's clear we're missing a trick by not throwing Tavares in at the deep end
What about the shallow end with inflatable arm bands

Its not quite the same as he has played 30 games at professional level - I don't know why though a team 4th in the league is discussing him as a potential for the next few games

I haven’t even read it lol I just meant in terms of how close he is

The headlines never match the content - different writers I think.

This is the same CovLive that released a story this morning about what a shock it was about Enobakhare being released 🤣
Also how we're looking to move Hilßner on even though he's apparently still at Oldham (news to them & us I'm sure) & Jobello who's apparently never made a first team appearance for us 🤦🏼‍♂️

I see that Andy Turner has subsequently updated & corrected it (initial article wasn't by him) but they're just so amateurish.

It wasn't the pace we were missing it was the players looking to play an early ball. Hyam is one example here of a player not being brave enough to try anything other than a square pass.

Tbf he isnt capable of a decent pass, forward or in any other direction for that matter.
Just be grateful that he managed not to give the ball away.
And in the frame you show, a forward pass would of meant an off side flag.

One of the four available passes would.

That’s a fair point. Robins will know if he’s ready or not (size, physicality etc) but we have glaring lack of pace in the squad at the moment and sometimes you just don’t know until someone’s chucked in..it can just click for a small number, others take longer to adapt.

“There are bits he’s got to do. We have got him on a programme where he’s got to improve his strength, and while he’s scoring goals it doesn’t mean to say he’s at the level we need at our level.

Pretty telling, could score 30 goals at that level this season and wouldn’t be considered. Has to hold his own in training against first team players or go on loan somewhere and impress

Tavares clearly has something. Don't forget he wasn't signed as a 17 Yr old dev player,he is 20 and already played first team for Rochdale. He probably needs to bulk up and he'll almost certainly get a league loan in Jan. But with wagers injured I'd stick him on the bench.

Who knows if we're 2-0 and cruising with 15 mins why not bring him on

Not in this day and age, had the ball been played down the right channel ish for Jones (to run in on goal) the offside player is not interfering with play

If he clearly has something why has he gone from playing the odd bit of men's football to just u23 football?

An unknown Callum Wilson was thrown in at the deep end, and that didn’t turn out too bad.

Yes and there’s nothing stopping him going to a League 1 or 2 club and doing similar in January. That’s if we actually want to progress players of course and not win U23 titles…

The lad is 21 in a few weeks, has been a professional footballer for several seasons, has played league football and people saying it's 'too early'. Too early for what? A free bus pass?

I think the suggestion is that perhaps he is a better bench option than Jones at the minute. Can't see the harm in taking a look at him late in a game.

He’s an out and out striker

could it not be that the city forward was in an offside position and Hyam could not pass it forward to anyone and had to go sideways?

That's exactly what I was getting at when I referred to the particular frame shown.

But that doesnt distract from the fact that he is by far the worst player we have with the ball at his feet. (Imo)

Whilst Godden is offside, Gyokeres is in a good position in between two defenders and on-side.

Theres probably not a centre-half in the league that could hit that pass though

It’s a fairly simple dink over the top.

We just needed to hit the channels. We did it first half but second half decided not to.

Needs to show his worth against first team players in training:

He isn’t where he needs to be in terms of playing regularly but he’s certainly going to be around it, and then it’s up to him.

“Let’s see. He needs to get used to the training first.
“He’s with us in the training group so let’s see how he develops and how close he gets.”
