Well pleased with that draw! I just wish I still lived on the Isle of Wight. Quick trip on Red Funnel, walk through town and then watch the game. Ah well, I knew we wouldn't get Kidderminster away! :(

Not easy, but winnable I'd say. I'm happy with that as a draw.

If we're going to win the cup we'll have to beat a premiership team or two on the way. 🙂

With people squirming about Boreham Wood at home it’s a relief we’re away at a top flight side instead.

Excellent draw, not too far, decent team, space for the fans and we can have a go at them without too much pressure. its a cup draw, don’t understand the negativity from the usual suspects but perhaps I do.

Well I guess it depends if you want a day out or to advance

Happy with this draw. My brother and daughter are both Southampton fans. Will make it a family day out, as long as I can get a ticket in the away end.

I think it's a decent draw, we'll take plenty.

Plus it's a good opportunity to see how we'll do next season...

Worse tie ever for any of us Northern based supporters-like fuckin Brighton a few years ago.

Yep, 15% unless the police step in like with Derby.

One memory I have of Southampton visiting Highfield Road for an evening kick off was that in the away end, there were just two die-hard fans supporting Southampton. During half time the West End couldn't help take the piss and started singing (to the tune of the chorus "On Ilkley Moor Baht 'At"), "We'll see you both outside, we'll see you both outside, we'll see you both outside!" Those poor blokes must have been bricking it, but then they just waved and blew kisses and the crowd loved it! Great banter from the 70's!

We will definitely sell out our allocation even if it’s a 12 o’clock kick-off and an ideal fixture to see how far we need to go if we are to get to the premier league Southampton are a team we need to emulate should we get there.
Certainly better than an away tie at Bournemouth or Cambridge,

Fkin glad we didn't draw Cambridge away, couldn't bear to see us lose there for a third time.

Shame it’s not at our place, might’ve been on tv and could’ve turned them over. Not so optimistic away !

Interesting to see what team Saints put out - they tend to play a mix of established and youth in this competition - even more likely at their place I would have thought. Hopefully they'll go easy on us and rest AA.

Glad Forest beat the Arse (deservedly) as it means an extra game for them too, Not sure what the position is with Djed Spence, but based on that performance, I'd be recalling him if I was M'Boro.

If we can keep it tight for the first half and get the crowd on their backs we could cause an upset in the second half with gyo running at them

This is not the draw i was hoping for. You could argue a below average premier league team with a medicre following. Yet they often produce some good football. They should beat us and we would need to be at our very best with a bit of luck to reverse that.

Somone said we should aim to emulate them? Why? A city quite a bi smaller than Coventry and not exactly a place full of fervant football fans. I should hope we would be better than Southampton should we get back to the top flight.

I really was hoping for Man Utd/Liverpool or Chelsea away, and if not an easy home tie to the likes of Borehamwood! Not to be and I'll be thinking of the extra game pile up in our quest for the playoffs.

Some decent posts on the Southampton forum about us, rare positivity about the club and our city.

We are almost identical in size really. Similar historical crowds, league status and both have one major honour. Even the stadium is identical in size.

Funnily enough, the start of their rise back to the PL began by winning the JPT.

Medicore following? It’s the same as if not better than ours. They had 20,000 in League 1

And as for “hope we’re better than them in the top flight”, what you mean European football and top half finishes?

And Coventry us a city of ‘fervent football fans’? Certainly not in my lifetime.
