Eccles, sheaf and Allen played really well.

Gyo changed after his goal and looked more confident.

Moore - 1 - Barely made a save. Should just buy a season ticket behind one of the goals if he has to play in any more games like that.

McFadz - 7 - Solid as a rock.

Hyam - 7 - Would have been higher if it wasn't for losing the ball in that daft position.

JCS - 8 - Pick of the centre backs today, his runs forward were great.

Eccles - 6 - Bit nervy but got better in the ball as the game progressed, great run at the end.

Bidwell - 6 - Settling in still.

Hamer - 7 - Same as usual.

Sheaf - 8 - Had one of his "pondering the orb" moments in the first half, but largely very good with some good challenges.

Shipley - 6 - Decent, tries things in that attacking position, but often causes us to lose impetus. Surprised he didn't bury his chance.

Allen - 7.5 - Enjoyed his unstoppable energy in centre midfield in the second half and watching him nipping at the heels of some of the Stoke players.

Gyokeres - 8 - I don't think he was bad as people were suggesting in the first half, just things weren't coming off for him. Good goal. He's a beast.

Waghorn - 7 - Thought he did a very good defensive job at the end and obviously he has to be there to allow Gyokeres to score.

O'Hare - 7 - Didn't look injured / unfit. Important contribution for Gyokeres goal.

DaCosta - 10 - Just really happy to see him again.

Stoke - 6 - Some good passing, but done very slowly, like walking football. Their best player seemed to be the one who's name I won't even attempt to spell.

Exactly! Dacosta Motm by a country mile.

The way Allen slots into the Defensive midfield position midway through 2bd half when Hamer comes off seems impressive. Gos unnoticed. Did it at Peterboro impressively too.

Robin's has alot of faith in him to give him that responsibility.

Was a bit concerned after the first 15 minutes where Fadz and JCS got tight and turned but we were solid in the end.

Hyam made a number of good defensive headers and has added a bit more aggression at the right times, really good
Hyam looks much stronger and a bit quicker than last season. Playing on the right side also allows him to bring the ball out from the back quicker and more accurately.

Sheaf was incredible.

JCS class. Allen brilliant second half. Gyökeres a handful all night.

Like 90% of games this season, we truly dominated.

Moore 6

Hyam 7 One of his best games of the season
McFadzean 7
Clarke-Salter 8 MOTM Best game he’s had by a long shot, superb on the ball

Eccles 7 A very tidy player, did well out of position
Hamer 5 In sore need of a rest
Sheaf 7
Bidwell 6 Not getting forward enough for my liking

Allen 7 Has looked really lively recently
Shipley 6 Immediately obvious how much we rely on O’Hare’s work rate and close control

Gyokeres 7 He’s nowhere near as good as he thinks he is but can still pull something out the bag, which will always be valuable

Waghorn 6 Lots of industry and very little end product, but finally showing a spark
O’Hare 6 Didn’t look injured/unfit
Dacosta N/A Looks like a competition winner every time, it’s amazing, lord knows what his teammates must think

Robins 7 First touch in the technical area was superb tonight

Thought Mcfadzean, Eccles and Allen were very good.
Also noticed all the Sheaf moaners around me have gone very quiet the last few games...

Sheaf's progress this season has been something to really enjoy and he doesn't seem to break much sweat doing it either. We really need more bodies in both midfield slots but with no help incoming Eccles will have to step up.

It's genuinely probably 2 players we need and for nothing to be provided is pretty disappointing when you see how close we are to being a genuine challenging side.

I thought Bidwell looked decent, that ball in early in the second half bodes well

I don’t “get” him. Doesn’t beat a man, not great defensively, has a good cross but doesn’t seem to want to take up positions where he’ll receive it and whip one in. I do like that he arrives back stick though, been one of my bugbears about our wingbacks.

JCS 8 - strong defensively and carried us forward well.
Hyam 7 - Some really important headers. Particularly the one from that little reverse cross that looked a certain goal.
Sheaf 7 - Will never be eyecatching but does his role well.
Allen 7 - Like having two players when we’re out of possession and some decent crosses, particularly first half.

The Rest: 6

We seemed to lack something tonight but take the W and call it 6 from 9 points. Would snatch your hand off for a draw on Saturday though.

Didn’t see it with Eccles either. He got better but for a midfielder his first touch and ability to hold the ball is poor. But he was out of position and just starting out and I thought he’s looked OK in previous cameos.

Back three and Sheaf were excellent. Allen was OK but gets lost in the CM position. Györkeres deserved his goal. Really like Waghorn, he’ll never score but he’s got such class and organises the press really well.

Waghorn does have a shot on him I think but already seeing clearly how Gyo has missed playing alongside him.

Eccles is a very good player and will only get better with experience. He has had long recovery from injury so all credit to his determination. I expect him to be pushing now and looking to be a starter come next season. I rate him really highly he has got a bit of everything and could be a very useful player for MR.
