How would you sort LWB position for next year, would you try and get him back? Have Bidwell there? Or have someone more dynamic for getting forward on a permanent deal?

I'd love him back but would love to get Sam McCallum back even more,,,,,,the reality is there is probably better than both of them out there it's just getting them here!

Not many clubs loan players to the same club for two seasons so we will probably have to look elsewhere, Bidwell looks more like an old fashioned left back to me so may end up playing the left of the back three as he looks settled there.

Bidwell was signed to play there I assume would seem a waste of a loan if we had to play a replacement in that position

We don’t even use our full loan allocation. Bidwell is a LCB from what he’s shown regardless of where he was signed to play.

he’s not tall enough and I can’t see it

he got 8 assists for Swansea last season with crossing a key strength

The recruitment team don't get many wrong, they're not perfect I know but they're right more often than not.
They saw enough in Bidwell to bring him to the club
Admittedly he started slowly but now he's had a run of games and has got used to what Robins wants we're seeing a real player .

I think Robins would take JCS over Maatsen, can’t see us taking him on loan again but we do need more left sided players not sure what’s going to happen with Shipley & Jones.

Yeah, Bidwell's first choice next season. What we need is a youngster we own who can step in when needed, and aspire to becoming first choice. If Reid isn't that player, he needs to be moved on.

Coming into a team mid-season is always challenging for players. I think Bidwell will benefit from a pre-season with us, which could help him develop into the role we need from our LWB.

That's the thing long term, but being in the left side of a three may have changed robins mind.As for maatson will Chelsea let him go ?

Surprised he hasn’t been on the bench in recent weeks given how stretched we are for defensive players with the manager preferring an extra attacking player, I guess that’s a hint in itself about where the manager sees him

Assuming the Chelsea situation is resolved by then I can't really see him coming back. I think they'll probably want to test him elsewhere.

Equally, I suspect they'd demand a loan fee if we enquired about bringing him back as well which we just wouldn't pay.

Maatsen is ok, but massively overrated at left wingback. Not great defensively, and actually doesnt offer that much going forward from that position, quite often cuts in and narrows the pitch, and makes a lot of odd decisions in the final third.

He looked better in a couple of the games he played in midfield, but he isn't good enough in that position to really warrant signing for it.

McCallum is the best of the three lwb mentioned above. Not sure it’s even an option though, pretty sure he’d just be in the stand as he was local and no other games on etc.

Trust Robins and the recruitment staff on Bidwell but he is very old school on the ball when playing lwb. First thought seems to be get it out of my feet and knock it down the line.

I don't really agree with this Maatsen is highly skilled and in my opinion will go far in the game.

Bidwells stats are good. His record shows he’s a lot better as things stand than mccallum.

I liked him but I wouldn’t see any logic in getting him back. Mastsen is alright but he’s hit and miss and struggles defensively.

I'd keep Bidwell as left sided centre half, if we don't get Clarke-Salter long term.

Would happily take Maatsen back, or McCallum and have Shipley as the back up LWB. From all accounts we could lose Rose on a free, and Fadz is only good for 1 more year max, so centre back is a key position to look at in the summer.

Rose is contracted to the club until 2023.

If Chelsea's sale is not completed by end of May, then I would guess that Maatsen would be needed there. They are currently facing the prospects of losing 3 first team defenders this summer, under the embargo.

He can still cross a LCB gets forward as he’s shown. He’s far too slow to be a LWB. As for height, he’s not playing in the middle there’s been shorter world class CBs it’s not a blocker with the right players with him.

If he’s going to be a LWB exclusively it’ll only be as backup.

he’s signed as a LWB and will be one of our highest paid players - possibly the highest of Waghorn leaves. It’s inconceivable he’s not been signed other than as a first choice

He also has a track record of playing in successful teams in this division. That being said, it's entirely possible he's the right player in the wrong team, and his style of LWB isn't our's. Whatever, we're sure to find out next season!
