No I didn’t. Turnout in round one was about 70% so at best it’s 45% of 70% of the electorate as only 70% of the electorate turned out. So about 32% of the electorate in round one voted for the right not nearly 50% as you claimed.

Not sure who you’re lumping in with Le Pen either as another party with her values to make it up to 45% let alone 50%. I would assume the French Republican Party but they’re a centre right party not far right and unlike Le Pen very much pro EU and pro NATO so nothing like Le Pen.

OK....My mistake in using the word "electorate" when I actually meant all those that voted.

Point still stands its a flawed system when more than 50% of people who voted in round one basically had their votes binned & instead given the choice of "plague or cholera"

...And I wasn't as much "lumping" anyone in with Le Pen other than pointing out that the 2 main nationalist parties got 22% (left wing) and 23% (right wing) ...so they polled 45% compared to Macrons 27% in R1. Don't know too much about the fringe parties that made up the rest.....I think the far(er) right party were 4th with about 7% vote.

No surprise the largest cheer for Macron wasn't in France, but in Brussels. France is as broken & divided as fuck the UK

Ah okay, that makes more sense. Although third in the first round was a left wing party and only just behind Le Pen with 22% of the vote so almost 50% of the initial vote did go to the left from those 2 parties alone. Think I’m right in saying most of the smaller parties are left also so in reality the majority of the vote went to the left and that was reflected again in the round 2 results.

I see Rachel weird Kier Starmer voice Reeves has insulted 10m people that voted Labour in 2019 by saying she's glad they didn't win. As remarked earlier in this thread, I live in a very very tight marginal but Labour in current guise can absolutely get to fuck if they think they're getting my vote at the next GE.

Three cabinet ministers and two shadow cabinet ministers are amongst 56 MPs facing sexual misconduct claims.

Fucking hell.

She really is weird but now you’ll have to explain to @PVA why you won’t vote labour

Corbyn wasn’t the right man to lead the country just like Johnson isn’t but for differing reasons, Starmer sits in the middle and makes him more electable and he is far more statesman like than the current buffoon. I am a Labour member and very happy with Sir Keir and believe he will win the next election.

Lol Starmer has zero chance of a majority - the irony is he will have to form an alliance with Wee Jimmy Krankie and allow a referendum as part of a deal which will make him a minority - if labour want to stand for something have the balls to do it - Rayner isn’t my cup of tea but at least she has a view and interest - Starmer is the heir to Cameron who was the heir to Blair - a career politician with an interest in nothing but his career

Hahaha

Fucking hell

Amazing self awareness again

You are so binary on politics - it’s funny even those here in the left consider you a 🤡

That's nice dear.

Its true you actually have zero political ideology - I’ve made posts supporting Corbyn - started a thread praising John McDonnell and said I’d consider Rayner a real politician with real principals - you actually laugh at the people who stay firm to these ideals

Are you saying that Starmer is a career politician?

Meanwhile the government are trying to make themselves unaccountable again. Their bid to be a dictatorship continues.

Say you haven’t updated your knowledge of the U.K. electoral situation since 2010 without saying…

Wee Jimmy Krankie? Are you aware it's not 1985 anymore?

I mean he’s 59 and only been an MP for the last 7 years after having a distinguished career as a lawyer and QC for the previous 30 years. The very definition of a career politician.

So you would rather have five more years of the Tories in power?

How bad does this Government need to be for you to feel the need to vote them out?

Whereas our Prime Minister was just a 'journalist' peddling populist nonsense.

I didn't vote for them in the first place. The choice in 2019 was between Labour and all the chaos that has unfolded. But the current shadow cabinet seems quite content with the election of the Tories in 2019, so, i'm sorry but I am not now voting to remove them cos people like Rachel Reeves have got their choice of leader on board.

Reeves' comments are in reference to Corbyn's antisemitism and NATO stance. At no point does she say she's glad Johnson is Prime Minister or that she's glad the Tories won the election. Quite the opposite.

Probably wasn't the cleverest thing to say but people are totally misreading them and a lot of red wall voters would be glad to hear Labour distancing themselves from Corbyn - he's the reason a lot of them voted blue for the first time in their lives.

So let me get this centrist piss straight.
If you didn't vote for corbyn you're not a tory enabler.
If you don't vote for starmer you are.

Gobshites.

All I'm saying is people have taken Reeves' comments saying she doesn't agree with Corbyn's antisemitism and NATO stance as 'I'M SO GLAD THE TORIES WON!!'. Which clearly is not what she's said.
