I'm not holding a grudge.

No one wanted what happened and for a while we were comfortably the worst club to support in England.

However, I had some of the best days supporting Coventry in League 1 and 2 and appreciate being a Championship club more than ever. I've moved on.

Coventry City Council and Wasps however...

Despite the despicable choices made and the pain SISU caused until ~2017, at some point we all have to move on and acknowledge that bar some poor decisions around investment (e.g. this January), their club management has been largely pretty stellar in comparison with the vast majority of league clubs in this country.

I'm sure it's naive of me, but I have been genuinely impressed by how she has spoken, been more visible (which is clearly against her instincts), and her apparent knowledge of footballing matters in the last few years.

Give her a chance - we don't have any choice and it will most likely benefit both parties.
Like I said, I can forgive but I won't forget.

She and her people will ultimately be judged on what she does or doesn't deliver and up to now that hasn't been very much in positivity.

So, ok I'll give her a chance, a fresh start, onwards and upwards as they say, but I won't expect much and that way I won't be disappointed.

What's so good about it?

She wouldn't give so much as an interview because she refused to be held accountable for her consistent wrongdoings over the years. Now that the club is in a positive position her attendance has become more regular. Funny that.

She isn't a fan at all and it's concerning if fans actually believe that.
Concerning lol

I couldn't care less whether she attends or not, I just find it absurd that fans seem to insist on suggesting it's a good thing when in the grand scheme of things it's utterly irrelevant.

Their most successful period has been driven by the fact they've avoided interfering in club related matters.

The fact they still sustain us by injecting high interest loans in the club also permanently relies on Robins overachieving year on year. Highly convenient fans seem to forget this.
Better days interesting opinion given his inside knowledge wouldn’t you say??

Not really as nothing has changed in terms of their overall objectives has it?

They seem to think so and they’re closer than you or i

I don’t think they are falsifying accounts and I don’t think the strategy has changed

he’s only looking at the actual results on the pitch

No he’s not. Course he’s not.

So what’s changed in the overall strategy regarding the way the club operates than aside from on the pitch

There is no inward investment, no outward investment, current investors are a priority - no change there

You can’t ignore the fact that even in the halcyon days of success there was a plan to move the club out of the City again with no assurance it would ever return. That’s hardly a “good” plan whichever way you
Cut it

All the financial elements will remain unchanged regardless of the football performance

We're coming up to 15 years since she took control. In that time there have been 2 moves out of the city, 2 relegations, 2 promotions, the relationship with the fans going toxic and then returning through the other side. Financially speaking she is still jacking high interest loans on the club and keeping us dependent on Robins' working miracles on a tight budget each season. The squad was not strengthened in January despite it crying out for reinforcements in a small number of positions.
7.5% for an unsecured loan is not excessive.
Giving interviews to kids and showing up to games is all well and good but don't let it distract you from the picture behind the scenes.

Agreed. Things have improved and SISU's stewardship is better than their attempts to just steamroller people into submission and taking fans for granted.

But that doesn't mean it's all rosy. They're not risking the club with huge high-risk, high reward investment (which by and large is good) but due to the insane nature of football even the sensible ones have to go a bit beyond their means just to stay still.

Much of our situation is down to the phenomenal amount MR/AV/DL have managed to get from the squad and budget. Many other clubs with our level of backing would be very much struggling at this level.

Then, as you say there was a lack of investment to push on in Jan after a good start and the club is still being saddled with unneccesaily high interest which benefit SISU to the detriment of the club.

So's the tea lady, the kitman and the security guards. Does that mean you expect them to have an in depth knowledge of the club's business strategy and an expert understanding of it?

I’m not a Joy fan. But surely being at the match is a sign that she is ‘Doing the right thing’. Whatever her reasons, she turned up. However, she Is still responsible for when we went out of the city

Is that true

In the MR 2nd spell to 31 may 2021 net investment was minus £115,828k. Details are from the published financials

Would think she was here for something more important an u16 match. If she went to watch then great but I don't really care if she does or doesn't go. I doubt her presence or not at any match really changes the direction she wants to go with club. It never has

Personal opinion is I will enjoy what the ccfc teams are doing, not going to read much in to the owner turning up or use it to justify actions or attachments or change of heart Unless you know her very well you are not going to know one way or the other.

Not my area of expertise so apologies if I am not using the correct terminology…but aren’t we making losses every year still and they are plugging the gap/covering the shortfall? Does that not count as investment? Serious question…even if they log it as a loan that’s still investment no?

Or is it accumulation of debt?

All she's doing is taking a vested interest into a company within her wider portfolio. That doesn't equate to being a fan.

There's a fundamental difference and sadly, as shown by comments on this thread, most posters can't seem to distinguish between the two.

If we take the emotions out of it; I don’t know how many assets and businesses SISU have in their portfolio but previously like you said, Joy’s attendance/appearances was sparse and we were just left with occasional appearances from her stooge Fisher.

Now her asset (our football club) is on an upward projection and showing signs of being a potential top Championship/PL team, the organ grinder (Joy) has appeared, given interviews and now is far more vocal… it’s just the way business works - just their asset/business is our football club.

Positives:
- if Joy has more engagement with the club, she’s far more likely to sign off investment in the players/club.
- the academy staff would have been overjoyed that they had interest and attendance from a top boss at the club at a game. No doubt they would have squeezed into convo what will help them achieve further
- Joy is taking the time to understand the club personally from top to bottom. Which shows engagement or she’s thinking about future planning
- We don’t have to see the odious toad Tim Fisher any more

I know there will be some people who still want to shout abuse at Joy et al on sight but that’s achieved nothing for us and they can’t change the past sadly. Also, for all the decent people we have at the football club to succeed, they need her engagement/investment until the day SISU and Joy sell up.

Is it really all that interesting? It's just a glass half full approach. I very much doubt he has direct access to Joy.
You have no idea though and as someone who knows a lot it’s very interesting and I wonder why his opinion has changed and what he means by making all the right moves

The losses are not the thing to look at because they are to a great degree created by the interest that is not actually paid out and to a lesser degree the amortisation of player contracts.

The metric everyone should measure them by is cash flow. Basically that tells you the sources of monies actually coming in or going out. But don't focus on the one year because monies get held back or held back monies get spent the following year for specific purposes

Those cash flows which are available on sbs&l financials and clearly show the monies put in and taken out each year by the owners.

Over the last few years with MR to 2021 if taken in total those cash flows show the owners have not put net physical cash in to ccfc.

The "investment " in players is solely down to the player trading that has been done not new funds from the owners

I do have an idea though as her way of operating hasn't changed.

The way she runs the club severely impacts its ability to succeed long-term in this division. That isn't a debate.

Like a previous poster has said BD may have inside knowledge to the club. but you are sorely mistaken if you think that equates to me hanging onto his every word.

Unless there is tangible evidence to suggest her operating model has changed and SISU aren't bottlenecking the club by attaching high interest onto the loans it injects then my opinion won't change.
