Things to take away and improve, teams are well aware if they keep sheaf and Hamer marked it takes away most of our creativity.

This new formation will really help us to switch it up to counter the man marking in the middle. My word Panzo is some signing.

We woke up in the second half, reasons to be optimistic still- Panzo was superb barring a couple of misplaced passes, Palmer looked good when he came on and is still getting up to speed, great goal by Vik. Thought Walker did well also. Bidwell’s delivery was awful today as was Gus’s. Tayo hopefully will be a big player for us this season

Not too worried. Was their cup final and we mostly looked comfortable. Ineffective without O’Hare but thought Palmer looked like offering something very different. Not trained since O’Hare was injured so you’d expect us to be disjointed. Hopefully we can work out a game plan before next match.

Thought Panzo looked excellent, Sheaf was good, Dabo did well when he came on, Hamer will play a lot better than that. Lots to be positive about. There’d be a bit more if we can bring in a loanee AM though.
I think my biggest positives out of that were Panzo and palmer. Panzo excellent all game and think he will be a real asset for us this season.
Really liked what I saw of palmer, think he looks composed and probably more of your typical mould number 10

Considering O'Hare and Dabo were missing and a few players not turning up first half I'll take the point, but really Sunderland were there for the taking. We were too messy first half and gave away a goal which questions Moore and the use of Eccles at wind back. Eccles is not anywahere near the first team on this showing. Pace and energy after the subs brought about the goal, which was class from Gyokeres.
We need to get focussed for next week as this was a slow start today. If anyone can't see why we need O'Hare in our side and the way we play, then you are in denial. We missed his enrgy today. But we dug in and dug ourselves out of what would have been a poor defeat.
Bidwell looks like he has resigned himself to Ardarmola coming in!

Love windbacks they sail down the wing.

Could have won handsomely equally could have lost just the same. Will give them a bit of a pass with the last minute injury and Gyo’s goal was superb.

Hopefully lessons learned-we have players who can shoot effectively from outside the box so let’s not be shy.

If Sunderland can’t do better than they did against a poor performance, a gift of a goal and their defenders thinking it was wrestlemania they will struggle this season.

I didn’t think it was that bad. We can and will play a lot better but we never looked like getting spanked. I class “terrible” “awful” etc. as going three or four down. Average first half with too many individual errors and improved second against a side with everything (including the officials) behind them.

Panzo looks an improvement (potentially significantly) on what we had. Gus below par today but as usual had to withdraw a bit after a needless booking. Allen is tidy deep but just doesn’t impact the game going forwards enough to support the front two. Deliveries into the box were as bad as I’ve seen I think, madness when you have Panzo potentially on the end of them.

Signs are there for another decent season and I love the insanely different plan B.

Sky can fuck of with the Sunderland love in and obsession with selling our players.

Sunderland’s 40k “atmosphere” was barely existent despite winning for most of the game. Predictable.
