The pitch will be playable for the next home league game i would have thought. Body has to be seen as taking a stance here, but will be mindful of our relationship issues of the past, and the new 10 year agreement where a somewhat clean slate was established between the two clubs with a line drawn under past 'difficulties'.
It goes without saying any new legal threat would damage that new relationship, and be a futile exercise. What Body should have done was check up on the pitch condition before, and after the games, most importantly communicating with his counterpart at WASP regarding any promise of a new pitch being laid. When that pitch was not materialising why did he not question that long ago? I'm not sure where I read it but believe there was a small team from both clubs set up to monitor and manage the pitch between both clubs?
Are WASP leaglly liable for any compensation to CCFC? Would be very difficult, and more damaging than good would come from it. I would think WASP will most likely agree a small reduction in our rent payments for this season, on our 10 year agreement as a means of compensation for loss of revenue streams, including expenditure of a re-arranged fixture at a different ground. Not a huge amount but would satify both sides. WASP themselves may have a claim against the games organisers who did not make all resonable efforts to reinstate the condition of the pitch to acceptable levels. But that's for them.
It's too late to lay a new pitch clearly, but today they can work miracles with the grass and given a bit a of time it will be OK. So there is blame on all sides over this as I see it, getting irrate and threatening is the last thing anyone should be considering, provided WASP play decently here, and why wouldn't they?
As for our 'lost' revenue, the game will be rescheduled, so it's only the initial 'bumper' crowd we would have expected on opening day against potentially a lower crowd in the rearranged fixture. Hence the need for some adjustment to the rent to somewhat nullify the loss and keep the goodwill established with WASP intact, which to my mind is imperative to the 10 year agreement. CCFC moves forward, concentrate on what could be a great season ahead that's just started that has a long way to go, and plenty of bumper crowds up the CBS to come!
