Any chance Ashley could buy it only just to immediately sell it on to SISU in a Robert Jarni-esque move just to negate the conflict between CCC and SISU? 👀

I agree it’s why I always look to individuals to take responsibility and accountability for what we or they do.

Sure, but no decision won’t be voted on by the full council, that’s just not how it works. Like Gilbert’s story about a Wasps bailout, would never have happened in a million years and it was just playing on people paranoia.

How would that negate conflict? CCC would be the freeholder in both situations.

If Ashley has no intention of buying the club

- we are the same as now , possible worse rental agreement in future, sisu hand forced on new stadium or continue to lose money .

I genuinley think this is the beginning of the end for sisu , can't see how they come back from this

As I said yesterday - just because we as City fans think it’s obvious that buying the stadium and then immediately buying the club is an elegant, popular and lucrative solution doesn’t mean that any outside investors automatically see it that way.

Which is correct. But we’re discussing someone who was willing to pay £50 million for Derby plus stadium in the summer.

In all seriousness if Ashley is buying the arena there is no doubt in my mind we go into the Jan window with him as owner.

If Gilbert’s timeline is accurate and the arena deal won’t be completed for weeks then I’d say there’s almost zero chance of that.

It’s clever what he’s doing. Means he will get planning permission for warehouses, offices, crate jobs etc… council and locals will embrace it. In the meantime he wants bit of a hobby and the club would be complimentary to his empire building in the city.

He'll change our name to Complementary City - not having that.

A tall old guy with grey hair being shown the different lounges 1/2 hr ago. Northern accent. Probably nothing
On reflection, the northern accent was Geordie….

This is a Case of one step at a time Wasps gone kaput, ground soon to be sorted, Wasp signs I’m sure soon to be removed and then the club purchased not necessarily by the new ground owner was told ages ago prepare for a happy sky blue Christmas after 15 years I’m prepared to be patient a bit longer.
Slight problem is that RFU rules apparently require a Phoenix Wasps to play at their existing home ground for 2 years.

Why all the angst?

Wasps are history - from this day forward the CBS Arena will be referred to as the home of Coventry City Football Club - Wasps are just a footnote in its history. What a result that is.

The man taking over is a. genuinely fucking loaded and b. has previously owned a football club - so he'll get it, and the last thing he'll want to do is make enemies locally, especially as he's looking at other investments in the area that will be subject to planning and will require local goodwill.

We're powerless anyway, so just have to let it play out, but I'm very optimistic.

Are we still talking about Mike Ashley?

SISU have been waiting for this for years, there's no way they just sit there and don't even make a bid unless they've agreed to sell, in my opinion.

It’s still being referred to as Wasps’ ground/a rugby stadium in the media - we’re just mere tenants.

I’d still like to know where the Parasites’ takeover money is coming from.

A repeat I know. Slight problem is that RFU rules apparently require a Phoenix Wasps to play at their existing home ground for 2 years

Why do you think that though?

Takeovers of this size take a lot of time. If negotiations are at a standing start then I can’t imagine they’ll get done in 50 days. I wouldn’t expect to buy a house in that timeframe, let alone a football club. The due diligence alone could be a nightmare.

Forever breaking their own rules that lot. Ultimately they will want Wasps back in some form, so you'd imagine there would be some slack, especially if they were returning to the London area.

I don’t think it’s a standing start. He’s been around for a while. I have no doubt the majority of terms have been agreed with sisu and that’s why they’ve not made a serious play on the arena.
