This is all starting to feel like deja vu to when Wasps first arrived.

Majority of people saying the rumours are ridiculous, of course the council wouldn't be stupid enough to think moving a London club to the Ricoh would work. Strange accounts being fired up to push that its all SISUs fault. People out defending the council.

It's not a quote attributed to anybody, the article just vaguely says 'The Hottinger package involved match-funding from Coventry City Council'. Does it mean CCC would match the investment funding, or is it about funding of matches? Either way, surely not something that would get through.

Apologies if someone has already answered this...
It's the former... match funding means that CCC would match what Hottinger put in. So whatever the total going in is, CCC would be contributing half.

Exactly. They will always be up to something.

Something fishy is going on. I have a horrible feeling that Richardson is still going to be involved with the arena once Ashley gets his hands on it.

Same with the training ground... The one he handed to his mate when it all went to shit.

The mate who's apparently involved in the wasps take over.

‘ITK’s’ from Wasps site claim Richardson nothing to do with their takeover.

I read on one of the forums that some fans believe it was very fishy saving Wasps back in 2012 and that there is a feeling he only took them over as he wanted the Arena and surrounding land for property investments.

Could be that Ashley and him go on a joint venture to develop the land around the Arena. Would also make sense if Ashley is not interested in CCFC at present (or at least saying he is not to keep Reeves sweet).

Oh fun, we’re back at the “everyone who has a different opinion to mine is a paid troll” point of debate. Always fruitful.

I don’t understand why Ashley would want or need Richardson’s involvement

The takeover they've got is essentially somebody buying the badge; why would Richardson want to do that when it's already cost him a fortune?

I can see why people would see that there might be an underhand property developer angle with the area around the arena but we have to ask the question:

Is Mike Ashley more interested in making a few million from property or is he a person that likes to be involved with sport?

I can’t help think that MA sees an opportunity to get involved with a Champ club with potential, with a decent stadium and put his distribution warehouses bang in the middle of the country near the M1.

Whatever he does will probably combine both.

Richardson - different rabbit is he, not predictable.

It’s in Boddys programme notes today. “Brief initial discussions with Fraser’s Group” and that Fraser’s have given assurances that CCFC playing at the Arena is “very much part of their plans should they purchase the Arena”
It’s also
A “fluid situation and outside of our control“ and we will know more on the 17th.

A club that has to sell players for profit (or assets) in order to compete at a level that is beyond its income.

So watch out come the January window.

Isnt that all clubs? Selling players is part of pretty much everyone’s business model. Are Chelsea a selling club because they have the loan factory making them money?
Not all clubs are selling clubs, (man City payed100 million for a sub) but too many for comfort. Extortionate wages and agent fees don't help matters.
In short, the whole football business need overhauling.

It's crazy when clubs like Crystal Palace are reported to have offered Wifried Zaha 200k a week.

Richardson is right, no point voting on a deal that had zero chance of success given the match funding from CCC was not happening

Who says the match funding wasn't happening? Hottinger just made this up completely did they?

They woke up thinking, let's pretend we've got £30m coming from the Council. No need to talk to anyone at the council, we'll just make it up.

C'mon now, that makes no sense whatsoever. It's obvious Reeves was involved, and if Reeves was involved then Duggins is involved.

And if Duggins is involved what are the odds that the Labour meeting that eventually never happened was about him drumming up support for yet another secret fucking bailout for ACL.

This isn't a mad conspiracy theory, look at all of the stuff that's come out already and then reflect on what the Council did in secret previously when bailing out ACL and then selling to Wasps.

It's a pattern of duplicitous behaviour that we've seen before - it's not hard to believe that it was happening again.

If todays win against QPR, our great run, and us now being top of the current form table (last 10) doesn't attract an MA bid, then nothing will.
Surely he's got to see an opportunity here for a modest, January investment, which could possibly pay very lucrative dividends...assuming SISU don't play stupid buggers with the price.
C'mon Mike...get your fat cheque book out.

More likely SISU would hold on to end of season just in case there was a sniff of promotion - and a much bigger value

But also it will drive the price up. He will want to drive it down and SISU will want guaranteed return. I think they will look to offload a few players in Jan. Easier money that negotiating with MA.

I've said before SISU will sell once we got the tenancy at the Arena sorted which they did and we stablelised in the championship. Thank goodness that was done before WASPS when under! Now an opportunity presents itself in the form of Mike Ashley. If I was Mike Ashley I would be buying that stadium lease for 250 years in a heartbeat, and take the football club with it. the football club only needs reasonable investment to get back to the promised land. Hook or by crook I beleive this is what will happen & expect things to get clearer during the world cup break.

If SISU miss the golden opportunity to get from under their nightmare and come out clean they would be incompetent to say the least. Selling assets like Gyokeres in January may look good short term but should relegation then follow, SISU are back in the wilderness again with a continuing nightmare for them. The price on Gyokere's head and a couple of other stars at the club, gives SISU some negotiating power, but not much. Probably enough to get their full investments back. Joy would take that.
