I pointed out in the match thread that Furlong moved right back up the touchline to give him a huge advantage in terms of angle when taking that throw in. If it had been a free kick in the corner, the referee and lino would never have let him move the ball back up the field in the same manner. He then took the p*ss, after having been booked for the timewasting towel incident towards the end, by continuing to towel the ball, then snuck another 10 yards down the pitch before taking it.

I think the lino/ref could/should mark where the ball has gone out of play (as per free kicks) to stop players blatantly moving up the pitch the minute the ref has turned his back (they could even have an extra official (s) tasked with it to stop it eating up time)

Edit: This is something I was disappointed that someone in our team didn't challenge the ref about, before the throw in for the goal came about. I was shouting at the TV.

It was bad all round and not the first time that back line has been exposed by a simple ball across in the air. No one attacked it, Wilson didn’t command his six yard area and BNC lost his man at the back stick.

Lots of things you can do maybe the goalkeeper commanding his box as this seems unlikely with this clown.

Get the towel wet get the subs pouring water on it or using it to for our throws to get it wet.

Get the subs warning up in the area that he wants use.

I doubt if you can throw the ball that far anyway if you apply the rules properly. Both feet are supposed to be on the ground, and his technique needs to be examined and called out by the authorities IMO. Why isn't the linesman watching him?

Cant imagine that in training this was not discussed? Wilson need to come and clean everyone out and grab the ball as it is not travelling with any venom, I also seen that they did the tactic of roughing up the goalkeeper to get a reation whilst they are getting ready for the corner. Cheating bastards! its all right Robbins saying they use the black arts its about time we did as well. As they are getting on top a player needs to go down holding his head and stop the flow

Regardless of where the throw was taken from, we had 5 defenders on the pitch, 3 of whom are well over 6 foot.
We were undone by Wrexham in the same way, so it's very disappointing to of not learnt to defend a simple long throw into the area.

Surly the goal has to be Allen's fault! he should have headed it away or at least be guarding the goal line should Wilson decide not to move.
He could have headed it away then ran the full length of the pitch before scoring.

I think long throws are generally a waste of time unless you're up against a team that is shite in the air or you have a big lad like Andy Carrol who can be unstoppable in the air.

Last season we must have faced 100+ and from memory conceded from one vs Brum.

And a throw-in is much, much easier to judge than any ball into the box by foot.

If there is a corner or free kick, that can be chipped in, hit with great pace, can be bent in, or curved in and can be angled in to pretty much any area of the box. You can hit it long to the back post, or go short, or pull it back to the edge of the box

A throw in is so much easier to judge and there is a lot less deception with it.

Why he is just staying on his line when the ball is actually thrown in, is anyone's guess.
