Apparently we were going to sign Dasilva from Bristol City and Bidwell was going to Birmingham. It fell through because Bristol City couldn't sign a left back in time.

Not saying the Bidwell to Birmingham rumour definitely didn't happen and it has been mentioned from a few sources on here, but it seems very strange imo.
He's made 30 appearances so far this season and has been one of the mainstays in defence, so not sure why all of a sudden Robins would ship him out? Unless there was a fee involved?

I certainly can't see why we'd have been remotely interested in yet another cast off from Bristol who went through the Chelsea Academy

A younger option who he sees as just as good would be a reason. More potential to improve, longer at peak, more potential of sell on.

Bidwell is naturally a LB rather than a LWB, he's on high wages, and doesn't offer the attacking outlet that Maatsen did.
If MR gets the chance to pick up a pacey LWB for less wages with a potential future sell on fee, then i guess it makes sence.

he had the most assists of a LWB in one season in the championship I believe?

I don't know if Dasilva is the answer or not, but it seems that Robins is looking for a more attack minded LWB than Bidwell.

based on what?

...based on signing an attack minded LWB on loan and apparently being willing to swap Bidwell for Dasilva.

There’s no evidence we were signing anyone? And JWE is a disaster signing so far

Strange response that but If you say so.

Thinking JWE is an upgrade from Bidwell is embarrassing i mean that’s like some idiot saying Kyle Mcfazdean isn’t the best defender we’ve had for years and he once delivered the worst defensive ever seen at the football club

Agreed?

Did I say he was an upgrade on Bidwell?

You've done your usual, taken 2+2 and made 12.

So you agree it was a dumb decision to play him on Saturday then?

That has no relevance to what was being discussed.

Deflect deflect deflect.

Not sure what I’m deflecting from but if you say so

He probably left Bidwell on the bench with an eye on tomorrow's game. Not that JWE actually disgraced himself on Saturday, he was average and made a naive mistake late on.

he was awful - he just looked lost and clueless where to position himself. It was a fiasco

The original point was that MR seems to be seeking a more attacking alternative to Bidwell.

You started wittering on about Mcfadzean and asking why JWE started on Saturday. Neither of which were relevant.

there’s zero evidence his seeking a more attacking alternative? Where is that evidence?

Yeah he was ok. Looked a bit unsure on his positioning at times and got beat too easily once or twice but generally did ok.

Signed a second lwb as there wasn't any cover.

It's weird how you've not sighted any stats to back up the idea that JWE is a more attacking LWB.

Well yeah, we needed another LWB.

It's pretty obvious JWE is more attack minded than Bidwell. Obviously he's not as good defensively on current evidence.

Sample size is obviously tiny for JWE but yeah I can show you stats to show he's more attack minded if you really want me to.

You'd have to normalise the sample by removing his sub appearance at West Brom TBF, you think I post these things without looking it up

He really wasn't and that'sjust ridiculous hyperbole. I thought he looked quite promising. In my view Robins had to drop Bidwell given how he played at West Brom.

Why would you have to remove the WBA appearance?

It's patently obvious he's more attack minded than Bidwell.

That's not a criticism of Bidwell, they're two totally different players.

And the original point was that with the signing of JWE and attempted signing of Dasilva, MR was looking for more attacking intent from LWB.
