These players are good there is just something wrong in that dressing room that Thorn/Shaw/Carsley etc don't seem to be able to stamp out.
Yes he wasn't good for this club but he tried. He failed yes, but he tried and he was kicked out without a by your leave, just like so many others e.g. Black, Neillson etc.
As far as im concerned this is you venting your anger by going for the obvious option!
Thorn was part of the problem but not the main problem and does not deserve to have all of this lumped on him!
Richardson, Strachen, McGinty, Ken Deluded, Reid, Dowie, SISU, Ranson...i could go on!
All of these people and more have contributed to this clubs current situation! Thorn was a symptom of a much larger desease!
So don't go piling it all on him and to be honest, i think we've all had enough of hearing his name.

Shaw is a caretaker and assistant manager. It looks like he has a lot to learn to ever step up to manager, but he will be out of the spotlight soon.

Of course Thorn is to blame. We have a £4 million pound squad which he put together and which is certainly a top 6 squad in terms of what it cost to put together. They are not good enough and any manager will struggle with this bunch. Missing chances and letting in crap goals has nothing to with who's sitting in the dugout and everything to do with the players.

I think you might find the truth is that waggott has said publicly that it was a collective decision to who they brought in, and Waggot fisher are the ones who decided on how much they spent money on wages not Thorn

The one mistake Fisher/Waggott have made is not having a replacement ready once they fired Thorn. But then again I don't think they even expected Shaw and the players to perform this badly once he went.
These players haven't even responded to Shaw as manager.
There is something or someone shit stirring in the players camp possibly.
You look at Pompey and all there issues but they have a completely new team but they seem to perform for Appleton.
Just plain odd our team.

Don't agree at all with that.
The players in my opinion are more than capable. You only have to see all the threads from before the season with people looking at our squad. You only have to see the part of games when they DO turn up.
Don't tell me we weren't all over Bury 1st half, should have won in last 20 v Yeovill, better than Tranmere for 2nd half, all over Steveage until they scored, better than Birmingham over 120 mins.

You have to recall we were one of the hot favourites to go back up and everyone almost to a man (only a few dissenters, me being one of them) was saying that we should be good enough for the top 6.

We play well but the opposition see what we are doing and change either the way they are set up (Stevenage) or change the way they are playing with a couple of well thought out substitutes (Bury). I can't remember the last manager we had who worked out what was happenning and changed it! It might have been Peter Reids first game in charge of course it all went to hell after that but he did make a substitution (think he bought Shaw on ironically) and made sure we won the game.
This is what I want from the new guy someone who can see what is oing wrong and change things to make them better!

Bury we drew after dominating so is this more than capable? A game we cant even win when we dominate.
Yeovil we didn't deserve to win that game so I dont know why you mention it.
Stevenage scored after 20 minutes so what about the other 70? Is this the more than capable you speak of?
What about Crewe, Dagenham and today?
We played for 20 minutes against Sheff Utd. I remember how everyone was walking home discussing how capable we seemed.
You can't say a team is more than capable when they are bottom but one of the third tier and don't look likely to change that against Shrewsbury. You can't ignore facts with some rose tinted optimism. You can't believe a team can be good because they play for 20 minutes. Any team can play well for a period during a game, even City last season when we got relegated had spells in games that we dominated but didn't score, lost the lead, sucker punch etc. Was that team more than capable as well?

Ultimately for this latest calamity you have to blame waggot and fisher. Many were aware thorn was not up to the job but they allow him to assemble a squad before waking up to reality.
Nonense and unexplainable. Should have been removed as soon as the final whistle went at Southampton. We would have had all the people who now applied for the job applying then and they could have developed their own squad instead of picking up the pieces.

Thorn's rookie, chummy tenure instilled this half-arsed, 'I'll perform when I feel like it' culture we're seeing from the team. Shaw and Carsley are simply also just best mates with these players so training sessions can't really be a serious affair and the same suspects will be picked because everyone wants to stay as chums. That is a damning indictment on Thorn's spell in charge and the chief reason why we need a strong disciplined character to come in and boot out this crap attitude.

I make that about a 1.3-1.5m squad, and that's about what the likes of Leicester and Saints spent on one player in this division.
I'd also say that most that we did pay a fee for are worth miles left than that now (Baker, Wood). I dispute that this is a squad that should be at the top: there's a dozen squads in the division that cost more, and in living memory rather than ages ago!

It's logical, and has been explained a billion times: he was not seen as the man to blame as he wasn't backed by the board. Pretty simple, really. Most people outside of our Sky Blue bubble understand that he was doing an almost impossible job.

You can have a good relationship with the players and have proper training sessions from the coaches an players at the same time
Anyway you have ROD, Deegan, Mcpake and at times Gael to suggest Thorn wasn't best chums and mates with all the players

It was Thorn's substitutions today that really got my goat-what was he thinking bringing on ROD instead of Cody? Is he trying to get back in his missus good books?!
