I thought we would struggle but didn't expect it to be this bad. I just didn't think we brought the right types of players in.
I think they are better than they have showed but they aren't as good as some on here seem to think they are.
True, i think we'll have to get rid of some and bring in others to replace them if a miricle were to happen and we got promoted.
I think this is a very good league 1 side who just aren't playing to their full potential. We've seen a fraction of they can do and i know im not alone when i say that we want to see a lot more of, very very soon!

I think ion paper they look a good league one side, but in reality I just don't think we have the right balance and types of players to be a good league one side. The qualities we missed last season are still missing - pace, width, goals, physicality, leaders
Thing is there have been periods in games where the standard of teams in this division haven't been able to live with us. There's currently 3 issues that immediately need addressing in my opinion:
- Defence has looked very nervy and leaked soft goals
- Finishing at times has been very poor, needs to be worked on
- Consistency, we need to smash teams for 90 mins, no 20-45
Add fitness to that list of shame too I'd say. We are so sluggish in the second half, obviously not helped by Elliott, Jennings and Barton missing pre-season, but it seems to take our players forever to get fully fit (if ever at all..).
It's apparent that a far too cosy atmosphere has existed at the club for years. Unfortunately it's not a culture that can be changed overnight and any one who thinks that someone can come in as a manager and start acting like a strict disciplinarian from day one is sadly mistaken. There would be a reaction ,of course, but probably not the right one.Unfortunately there seems not be good man management structure in lots of clubs. How often have you heard a player say when handed the armband on a temporary or sometimes permanent basis. "it's not a problem for me and anyway there are 11 captains on the pitch". That is utter rubbish, there is only one captain and he has to be someone who leads by example, is respected by other players and is vocal in encouraging other players.George Curtis and Brian Kilkline are prime examples for the sky blues.
As far as managers are concerned, Brian Clough may have come across as something of a maverick, but I do happen to know that he attended a man-management course at Ruskin college (which is where mocst people of a socialist persuasion go).To manage people effectively you have to get to know them as people and individuals. Some require a light touch and other need a heavy one. A comment that may encourage one person may make another withdraw into their shell or even break them.
It is unrealistic to smash teams for 90 minutes unless the difference in quality is very largeThing is there have been periods in games where the standard of teams in this division haven't been able to live with us. There's currently 3 issues that immediately need addressing in my opinion:

So yes thanks to Sisu we are where we belong !

What we need to do is when we are not playing well, we need to defend properly, find a way to create chances and start playing well again.
When we are playing badly in a game, I never think we can turn around and start to play well again. All our heads drop and confidence vanishes, we need to be able to turn it around and regain the ascendency when we go through a bad patch in a game
Yep, at the moment I get the feeling if we go through a tough spell in game and have some pressure put on us we just fall to pieces and can't get to grips with the game for the rest of the match. Instead of doing the basics allowing us to get a foothold in the game once againEssentially, we need to start doing the basics well, like 90% of clubs do. Then quality can start to come into it. At the moment we're beaten by organisation, focus, work-rate and determination. All are things we lack.
And the key thing you point out-we might be a top 6 side on qulaity; we might even have a potential "best starting XI on paper" in the division: but we're not as far ahead of anyone in the division as much as the likes of Man C, Man U and Chelsea are ahead of some teams in the Premiership. We can't just turn up and win (or even draw) simply by having the best side on footballing ability on display (and that in itself is very very debatable IMO). Playing badly and winning won't be an option, we just aren't good enough to get away with it.
Assuming you are on about me, did you even read or understand my post? I meant a tough spell within a match, not a tough spell as in a period of our historylol @ "a tough spell" ffs we have had one of them for the last twelve years
We assumed we'd walk this division but we've fell flat on our faces like the championship.
Well no I meant a tough spell as in this moment in timeAssuming you are on about me, did you even read or understand my post? I meant a tough spell within a match, not a tough spell as in a period of our history
