Blackpool supporter was seriously assaulted by a Burnley supporter in the Manchester pub yesterday.
Unconfirmed reports that hes died. Hopefully that's not the case.

Wonder if it will have any bearing on how the police approach our visit in a fortnight?

Confirmed he has died.

Very sad. A complete waste of life.

Supposedly Blackpool fans attacked the Burnley pub. I'm sure the police will be heavily involved with our match.

It kicked off inside and then outside on Saturday night after Blackpool v Burnley and sadly a Blackpool fan lost his life this morning.
All those wannabe hooligans take note its not worth losing your life over a football match. The amount of idiots we had looking for trouble after the game on Saturday was embarrassing.

Christ, have been in there a few times.

I don't get it to be honest either, wonder if it will end up being shut down?

An absolute tragedy, I wonder if Blackpool and Burnley have previous history?

I think I will have a couple of pre-match beers in Fleetwood (where I am staying on weekend of game), and get the tram into Blackpool.

It's one of the designated away pubs I think?

Imagine it will for a few weeks whilst the investigation is underway so can't imagine it will be open by the time we visit. We used to drink in there and The Castle.

All the Lancs clubs try to "big-up" the rivalries - Blackburn, Burnley, Wigan, Blackpool & Preston - i think Fleetwood stay out of it.

Fuck that, there was a stabbing too, we’re taking 4000 there! It could be a disaster, but I couldn’t get two at 10 am so I’m fairly miffed

How do we reckon it will be up there when we go? Hasnt there been some history when we were at st andrews? They attempted to rush the roost or something didnt they?

They were randomly attacking people walking back towards town but we've played them since then.
I think they'll be a huge police presence, probably over the top in all reality

Seen a video of it. It's pathetic to be fair.

Life lost, for what? Another one will be ruined.

There will be naff all bother. Police will be all over it, especially now.

Still a very isolated incident and anyone who's seen the video will know that if you didn't want to be involved you could have walked away.

Sad waste of life and a tough lesson learned for many.

Agree before and immediately after the game but Blackpool is a rough night out at the best of times, groups of lads running until the early hours (like with this tragic incident) will still be on the cards.

I've just seen the video and what a shame. You never want to see anyone lose their life at football. (It looks like) the bloke went looking for a fight at an away pub full of Burnley fans. Completely avoidable, he put himself in that situation.

How many lives are potentially ruined because someone wanted to prove how hard he is?

I do hope we don't have a minutes silence for this. Seems there's one regularly and whilst nobody deserves not to come home from football he was moving forward and could've easily been the other way round. I've watched home and away for 30 odd years and never felt the need to smack someone about after the game. Hopefully will be a lesson you a few others.

Firstly, I can’t believe people post up these videos when they’re obviously aware of the nature of the content.

Secondly, I can’t believe the social networks don’t immediately remove them from public view, as soon as they’re aware of the nature of the content.

It must be absolutely horrendous for the deceased’s family and loved ones to know his last moments are being shared and viewed online as a means of entertainment.
Not to mention how it could affect the police investigation and any potential case bought against anyone in the future.

Whilst I agree with all of what you've said, I bet you still watched it? I did.

Perhaps also he might have considered how his family might feel before wading into away fans. At 56, 2 hours after the game and away from the ground with other known members of the 'Muckers' (alledgedly), I think his motives were fairly clear.

No idea about those who knocked him over as they might have been scumbags, but currently without all the facts I kind of have more sympathy for them and their family.

I haven’t seen the video but what I have read illustrates what I thought, looks like this chap put himself on offer and it also looks like he would have been quite happy dishing out a few right & left hooks himself. At 56 ffs.

Pathetic, that aspect of it especially isn't it.

Football hooligan in your mid 50's? 🤷🤦

I'd edit that to simply hooligan, nothing to do with football. Two hours after the game and away from the ground, every opportunity to have gone back to his family but went looking for a scrap.

I wonder if Blackpool are considering a minute's silence/applause. If it is true that he went looking for trouble then Blackpool should scrap that & with the rest of EFL/PL/FA use this tragedy to highlight how ridiculous this was and all hooliganism is.

Yup

With that new information, they have to cancel any tribute don't they?

They should but they won't. The backlash not to now after they were all laying wreaths yesterday would be an own goal for them. I don't expect others to do it in the way we might have if he was a genuine innocent victim, but I'm sure Blackpool's will go ahead.

They’ve opened a book of condolences for the fan and encouraging the laying of flowers - safe to say there will be a tribute of sorts and the next home game
