I've not said Lineker has been cancelled.

And when employed by the BBC Clarkson said about striking workers they should all be shot in front of their families, and didn't lose his job, so it's the hypocrisy and double standards that I'm criticising.

oh I’m talking about the future over the Meghan article and the demand he was sacked for that - as you well know

Sorry don't agree. He has a contract with the Corporation and has been seen as a face of the BBC for decades. He has a duty to uphold their values, regardless what kind of programme he is assoicated with. If you had a BBC cleaner spouting off political things on facebook they would hopefully face the same discipline.

Obviously he can tweet what he likes and if he wants to put his oar in a pro/anti government debate, then fair play to him. But he can't do that and still expect a contract with an organisation who are supposed to sit on the fence. Regardless of the "taste" of the comment which I feel is pretty crass, it's the correct call from the BBC and if Shearer or Wright want to not appear in sympathy, they are effectivley condoning his tweets.
actually the rules only apply to those in the news team

not like you to be wrong

It's a fair viewpoint, but if the BBC feels the same way then they should put it in their Code of Conduct for all employees and make sure Lineker signed up to it knowing the consequences of breaking it. They haven't, and he hasn't, so here we are.

I didn't. And even if he'd been sacked, that wouldn't have constituted cancelling him would it?
If you really want to look at people who've been cancelled you really should beciting someone like John Leslie or Michael Barrymore.

Someone who has multiple platforms and access many more isn't cancelled, its nonsense.

But you wanted her to be? Also that is cancel culture this isn’t is it? If he worked for channel 4 don’t think this is an issue though I think making holocaust comparisons isn’t clever myself

Holocaust comparisons?

Fucking hell.

Enjoying all the presenters and pundits refusing to do it. Fair play to them.

So if someone does a crap job which makes them unpopular, it's cancel culture to call for a taxi?

I dont think cancel culture has a thing to do with it

Who are the comparable examples who've been suspended for right wing views?

Are you serious? Also a lot of laughing emojis from people that obviously have absolutely no awareness of what goes on in society.

There is infinite amount of attempts to cancel civilians and celebrities for holding right wing or conservative opinions, or more appropriately, not woke ones. Most cancel culture is related to race, gender, and sexuality - the leftists trifecta. Literally go on google and have a look. It isn't just celebrities either, it is the real world with people losing their jobs for not conforming to standards put in place by those on the left.

Post 'All lives matter', get fired. Post 'white lives don't matter', get promoted. No it's not a joke. That's a real example. Google that too.

Have a chat with Gina Carano and JK Rowling if you want to be that ignorant. Even Davina McCall talked recently about the one attempt people had to cancel her, for sticking up for men. Ever seen the Simpsons and Apu? You'll have to go back in time. Cancelled.

It's not exclusive to the left, but it is absolutely comes from that direction most of the time. To go full circle: 'It's ok when we do it'.

BSB said in this thread that he would lose his job if he openly held the opinion that this multiple gender nonsense was indeed nonsense. That's genuinely way more concerning than whether a few celebs get displaced from one platform to another.

I'm not sure the bbc should be having grief with lineker on this tbh .
No they should have let it die off tbh. Weird to see people swooning over a grossly overpaid BBC presenter mind you.

Thanks for that. But can you point out where he made Holocaust comparisons?

Oddly I think myself Agnes was referring to the genocide that strangely began in the 1930’s. I guess you think she’s talking about the Boston Tea Party
