Got a phonecall to say I had to work from home today, so watched The Banshees of Inisherin. Brilliant film , location was beautiful
My missus loved it.....until that bit (you know where I mean) and then absolutely hated it after.

I get her point. The film suddenly turns.

I still really liked it though overall

I know the area well as my wifey is from there but it was depressing - quality actors for sure ! I enjoyed the blackness of In Bruges much more !

Harriet. (iPlayer).

A decentish film about an absolutely brilliant woman, who I only learned of a few weeks ago.

Google 'Harriet Tubman' then watch the movie.

Hmm....would love to know people's thoughts on part 2 of the latest You, on Netflix.

A real crowd divider this one I think.

My daughter and I felt exactly the same way about it, but I won't reveal that now. Would love to know others thoughts first.

Saw the new Luther film last night. Enjoyed it overall but not too sure on the last quarter/ending.
Not too keen on the direction they seem to be taking him, and it feels like a grittier James Bond rather than the early few series that was more grounded and you had the dynamic with Alice
Just watched it. Really liked it. Well I did, until it went all James Bondy, but it didn't particularly spoil it for me as such. I guess they felt, as it was a film, they had to go all big and a bit blockbuster with it

Still really enjoyed it.

Getting to the end of series 1 of the Wire and just can’t get into it. I know it’s supposed to be one of the best programmes ever…is it just me or does it get better as it goes along?

Someone suggested I watch that ‘Fall’ film on Netflix. When I see them again, they shall receive a kick in the shins. Because it was f*cking shit.

Ok so we so far ditched Better call Saul - in it’s place we watched the MH 370 documentary - fascinating still full of mystery and unanswered questions

Watched the preview - the tingle in the tackle was just too much.

I've started watching Luther on iPlayer from the start. Enjoying it, but it reminds me so much of Cracker for some reason.

It's probably my favourite show ever (although s5 has a wobble) but if you're nearly finished the first series and it's not grabbing you I'm not sure I'd recommend to stick with it. It expands on the city as it goes but what you get in S1 is largely what you get throughout

Think they said they'd be up for making more films so would be happy with that, but just hope they keep it grounded and dark.
Alice is a big miss too

The film is brilliant. Makes line of duty look realistic - Andy Sirkis as a deranged lunatic with a stupid wig and like a Hughie Green game show host of death - it’s hilarious

Watched it last night, utter nonsense that descended into absolute nonsense, loved it.

Its weird how some over the top far fetched stuff grabs you and other stuff you just have to switch off.
Sirkis was having the time of his life.

Yeah, some critics seem to be praising Serkis for his performance, but he is way, way over the top and almost a pantomime villain. And the hair is just insane.

I did love the film though.

I watched last night as well. Just hilarious escapism

The Glory is back for its final 8 episodes.

Makes Luther look serious drama but compulsive stuff

Just watched TLOU finale - not really sure how I feel about it.
Same

I have enjoyed the series for sure. Not sure I quite get the labels of "masterpiece" though. It's all been done before and is quite generic, with little new.

It's beautifully shot though and the dialogue is strong. It's very good. Just not brilliant.

The best episode was the flashback scene one, with the two guys living their lives out in isolation.

Final episode of Last of Us was good but a drop in quality from the prior three. I was expecting an epic feature length episode full of drama and something of a conclusion. But it actually felt like the second season got commissioned and they re-wrote it as a quick link to the next one.

Luther movie was silly, OTT and far fetched with some questionable special effects (your coat collar would move if a tube train passed an inch from you face). Exactly what I was expecting tbh…. Daft fun. Set up for a change in direction, probably as a Netflix series, at the end.

Watched the new Whitney Houston film and that was good (if a bit easy on certain people - Bobby Brown). Also Where the Crawdads Sing on Sky Cinema… decent.

I was enjoying Luther far too much to notice whether his collar was turned up or not to be honest.

The story is a decade old in fairness.

It tells the story of the first game almost exactly with only minor tweaks so no re-writes in anticipation of a sequel etc. It was always planned this way.

As a massive fan of the source material I have enjoyed the show but think it's all felt a bit rushed if I'm perfectly honest.

The game does a much better job of making you feel emotionally involved in it & some of the scenes are truly heartbreaking. The more time you spend with Joel & Ellie the more it emphasises how arduous their journey was & how the bond develops between them. The interactive nature of a video game obviously lends itself to this better but the show doesn't really give you long enough with the characters to care about what happens imo.

It's telling that arguably the best episode of TLOU is the Bill one where they got to largely make it up from scratch. The rest stuck so closely to the game it inhibited a lot of it, like Frostie I felt it was rushed in parts as they seemed to feel compelled to get all the game beats in regardless.

It's difficult. Playing as the characters gives you a bigger connection. However I'm pretty happy with how they respected the source material and made a TV show from a game that isn't entirely shite.

I'd be happy to have an entire season 2 of stuff that happened between game 1 and 2 though now for a few reasons. Your Bill and Frank point is one of them though.

Saw Scream 6 (I think?) at the cinema last night. As with all the other Scream films it's absolutely ridiculous, but overall I enjoyed it

Started watching that, and although a bit weird, we’re still watching it. Must be the voyeur :ROFLMAO: in me that likes it

Watched the Banshees and thought it was just about ok, although my other half thought it was rubbish. I liked the acting, and the slow burn, but thought the overall story was garbage.

In Bruges was way way better, Banshees not even in the same universe…

I thought the series called ( FROM )
Was better than the last of us.
I just watched it.

I watched the first two episodes before, but gave it up, but following a few good comments on here, I thought I would give it another go.

Frustrated the hell out of me. The dialogue is very dumb at times and the character actions and choices, even dumber.

If there are monsters outside the windows, tapping and trying to trick you to get in, who the hell would let their child sleep alone in a bedroom? Especially when you know that if the monsters get in they would rip your child in half. These monsters also pose as loved ones to boot, making it even more nonsensical.

The second season is due soon I think, so I will give it another go when that starts, but for me it's too much like all the bad parts of Lost. Very similar too in so many ways.

Two split groups. Lost and no idea where they are. Trying to build something to communicate with the outside world. Strange things in the forest. Weird links to the past.

I wouldn't say I hated it. I think I could have really enjoyed it if the characters weren't so dumb and they are incredibly so.

One example of this is right at the start, where the family have just turned up in the RV. The locals tell them nothing past "run and hide and don't open the doors." Obviously, when someone starts tapping the door of the RV, the dad is going to try to open the door.

They have basically told the family absolutely nothing and have only acted very oddly since the family turned up. No explanation, very unhelpful. There are just so many bits of nonsense like that.

Hopefully the second season will be better and make more sense.

Rant over. 🤪
