It’s a bug stadium. Wasps didn’t fair well. Costs are up. Never easy to work out right structure for takings forwards and how long. Look at Huddersfield in playoffs then relegation, we don’t know hownits going to pan out. It was difficult and took a long time but glad we’ve got clarity. 5 year is absolute solidness isn’t it? Most stability we’ve had in a long time.

Two new people into the mix from Jan never easy to go straight into something I may not think is prudent. Huge uncertainty in football. No good to lock in ten twenty years then we’re down in L1. So has to be sensible. Parties understand that. Reached a perfect length deal for this moment. Well see hoeing unfolds. It was long and drawn out and exciting.

Ive been clear all along that if the parties can work together and be sensible then building a new structure (ground) that’ll take forever isn’t the right thing to do. Future is a long time. We’ve established five year deal. We are where we are.

We’ve also agreed that there will be no ground share other than concerts or internationals over the next five years (so no wasps)

The CBS is really impressive, it’s where we play and was built for us. The govt white paper is about not separating clubs and stadiums. Clearly things have happened in the past and we’re gradually moving to where we want to be so well see how it (buying the arena) pans out

First few months there’s been a lot to do. We’ve moved at speed and handled the Jan window well. Since the 100% takeover the run we’ve been on has been remarkable. That’s a huge effort. The team have their heads right on and are focused. They’ve got themselves with their destiny in their own hands. Got to let the occasion wash voer you. Going to be awesome to see what can be achieved at that stadium. I didn’t do this to think we’d be here. We had a five year plan to get things right (Ryton, pitch) we want a pitch that suits our quality. If it works out this year that’s an absolute bonus but if not

The big news line from that interview is the exclusivity clause - that’s very good news indeed. Tough shit, Wasps.

He’s a bit of a strange character - doesn’t seem that comfortable or well-practiced under the spotlight, which is kind of refreshing and kind of odd.

Seems like he’s prizing flexibility over long-term security when it comes to the stadium, and his mentions of Huddersfield in the relegation zone and the chance of us going down to League One suggest he’s as focused on the downside risks as he is on the upside ones. On the eve of us potentially sealing a playoff spot, is that just being prudent, or is it lack of ambition? Again, I think it’s a bit of both.

Sort of agree with most of your comments, SBT.

Not feeling confident talking in public or to the media ? Maybe he's never had to before. As the boss of a hedge fund, it will have been his underlings who would have done the PR and talking to customers. And at the Oil refinery, again he would have sales staff doing the work.

But I agree about it being different and somewhat preferential. He's being cautious and not inflating expectations. How would fans react if we got to the playoffs but were knocked out at any time ? Next season, we could lose our important assets and indeed struggle without major investment in a similar vein to Huddersfield (or Notts County... remember their Playoff final t-shirts before we'd played them ?). If he'd been bombastic about our promotion chances, the fans would riot about false promises, lack of support etc. What he's done is the correct way.
