Don't get the animosity here. Robins has said no set penalty taker so Vik backed himself and scored. He's joint top for assists which puts him fairly high up in the championship standards. He also happens to be our most valuable player but let's keep picking fault yeah...

It's not animosity, it's about removing the chance for a potential issue to develop.
Vik scored and Godden handled it superbly, but if he'd missed and Godden had sulked it could have been a very different afternoon.

Just because that didn't transpire doesn't mean it's a good way of doing things.

But if it was the other way round and Vik let Godden take it and he missed you could say exactly the same thing... Godden doesn't have a right to take the Pen and nor does Vik...

That's why the manager should nominate a taker!
Remove the ambiguity!

it’s pretty odd - in the interview robins admitted godden always scored and Gyokeres is so so but said it’s up to them to decide

I guess on the day you'd want the person most up for it to take it rather than Someone have to? What is they have a slight muscle injury that isn't enough to go off etc. I don't like the idea of our own players scrapping for the kick much either!

Godden will never not want to take one

Should be sorted now before the next game so everybody is clear if we get a penalty Godden takes it

Probably the diplomat's answer for the interviews. Bet his response in private is a little different... and atm we're winning, so he doesn't want everyone to fall out just yet!

No , I'd want matty godden taking it who has a 100% conversion ratio
Yup, never let us down with penalties, should always be first choice until and unless he says otherwise.

I mean if you score it doesn't matter does it , but should you miss and results go against us then starts the inquest .

Vik provably felt he needed the goal , and thankfully he scored

And it does show he has a strong temperament, can handle pressure better than many... was also one of his better penalties for us! Was actually a good one but...

Shouldn't have got to that really.

Its baffling really, earlier in season when Vik and Waghorn were in team, remember Waghorn taking ahead of Vik too.

All day Godden to take next one.

The one thing I wouldn't question with this team is how much they fight for & support each other. To say Gyokeres isn't a team player when for example he ran back to cover Bidwell & tackle their player late in the 2nd half shows me what nonsense some are saying.

Not sure I believe Robins on this one. I think he’s purposefully playing it down. Has Vik ever taken a penalty when Godden is on the pitch before?

Not really he didn’t want to make an issue. Thing I took from his answer was he thought godden handked it brilliantly

I admire Vik's confidence, though unfortunately I don't share his confidence when he's stood over a penalty!

I was wondering if we end up in a playoff shootout who the takers would be.

Godden and Gyokeres. Hamer surely. I reckon Doyle would take a good pen. Bidwell maybe. Walker if he's on the pitch.

Bidwell a certainty. McFadzean would put himself forward I reckon, but whether he could actually last 120 minutes at Wembley...

what choice did he have? It was poor and shouldn’t be repeated

Doubt godden could either - you’d hope he can and Gyokeres Walker godden Bidwell hamer I would think

Question would be if Allen was fully fit by then, whether Godden would start I guess.

Certainly a logic in bring him on later when the game is more stretched.

And Walker with a couple of minutes to go
