I should imagine that Simms would have been given assurance about who his team mates are/will be before he put pen to paper and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have done so without a guarantee that Hamer would be staying.
Perhaps wishful thinking on my part.

The signing of Simms suddenly made me very optimistic for the summer I must admit. All of a sudden have a feeling we'll spend more money than many thought.

I was a bit unsure if we would pay the cash as well, but the Simms signing has given me confidence in that we're willing to spend big for the right players. Hamer is a no brainer at the rumoured 20k p/w. If he will actually accept what we put in front of him is a different matter. I'd refuse to let him leave and he can run down his contract unless we get a stupid offer for him.

The length of time to announce/communicate isn’t ideal, but they have form for delaying done deals (see Sakamoto) and Hamer looks pretty relaxed/settled to me.

The only ITK info we’ve had on this - which was ironically positive so it’s a shame it’s not that credible - came from a source which has been panned on here over the last few days.
