Think we are looking at McNally through sky blue tinted glasses.
He was good yea,but not that good when he first came.
Plenty of mistakes in him at the start. We improved him and he was becoming a good prospect by the end of the season. He has a lot of improving to do.
Personally I think Burnley paid too much for him.

We kept two clean sheets in his first two games

Was it £1.8m then £700k in add ons?

No idea about add ons at all but the accounts refer to transfer fees received of £2m which may include the Shipley £200,000 as well

I know this is the Hamer thread so don't wait to derail it much , but Hyam is a far superior passer of the ball to McNally. It's not even close and the stats show it.

This nonsense about Hyam having poor distribution is an absolute myth, he's one of the best in the league (and McNally is actually one of the worst).

But I love McNally and really hope we can get him back.

.

If you reckon we'd only get £5M we'd be better off giving him that in wages over a long contract.
I didn't say he was only worth £5m, I said up until the last 6 months of the season he would have only attracted a fee of ~£5m but his performances in the last few months have elevated his value much higher.

The stats will show he completed a pass but as @Esoterica pointed out it was often behind the player receiving it which often broke any momentum we had

I know watching matches is alien to you

I've watched as many matches as anyone in the last 5 years but OK.

He completed over 2000 passes last season with a success rate of 90%. But yeah I bet a good 1500 of those were behind the man. Absolute fucking rubbish 😂

Passing along the back line to a team mate would be successful....

Saying 'he often plays the ball behind is man' is utterly subjective.

Actual statistics are factual.

Of course this forum would disagree with stone cold facts. Of course.
No we just do the old fashioned thing of using our eyes and making our own minds up. Try it sometime

Do you actually watch matches or sit there creaming yourself over stats instead? I know from actually watching him that he isnt the Paolo Maldini you make him out to be and no amount of stats will change my mind.

You are aware that every single professional club in the world uses stats as a huge part of recruitment, right?

And that many clubs have dedicated stats/data departments?

I am aware yes. I am also aware that scouts actually watch players in person and don't just buy from a database like you would

He doesn't go to games no unless we actually achieve success and the bandwagon rolls

I appreciate this in most circumstance but it's our fans eyes that lead to Ben Sheaf close to being our boo boy.

It's only when people opened their eyes to the statistics that they realised just how important he is.

So we have replaced it seems Franz Beckenbaur for someone who can't pass a ball - I guess our results really went downhill at the point that happened

I'd say some of that come down to him cutting out the mistakes that ended up with us conceding!
