Palmer's back heel flick (11 Viewers)

I don't agree that Palmer is sloppy. He tries to make the defence splitting passes and they are harder. So out of every 10 maybe he nails 6-7. That doesn't mean 3-4 were sloppy they were just hard passes to make but worth the try.
Totally agree, the alternative is to sign another Sammy Clingan. I know who I would rather pay to watch.

Alot of English football fans don't like flair though. See it as a fancy foreigners thing.

442 mike basset and all that. Would rather cheer a hard tackle than a rainbow flick etc

Not all fans obviously but alot of the older generation imo

Some of us oldies grew up watching Worthington, Best, Currie, Marsh, Brooking, Brady, Hutchison, Law..... to name just a few. Nah I think we love a bit of flash skill.

There's a difference between trying a fancy flick or bit of skill for the hell of it, or doing it to create something.

I think Palmer is occasionally guilty of the former, but mostly he's doing the latter - to unlock a defence.

Would love to see a proper high school and university system here, with clubs getting involved locally if they want to add to it.

Relating to the Japanese system where he played for his HS and Uni before signing for a club. I like that, certainly at high school level. Keeps kids grounded and local and hopefully adds money and community involvement to schools. We’d need to rejig the secondary system tho.

It's a Kasey Palmer heel flick thread?

Have you seen Johhny Football on Netflix? If you haven't, it's a cracking watch.

You should. Shows how the high school / universities make millions off the back of kids while the players themselves make nothing - apart from a scholarship. Johnny Football was/and is still a lunatic though.

This is the reason I made a rash early forecast for player of the season

I disagree, the harder passes he's tried in the Leicester game and the Middlesbrough game were fairly accurate, it was the simple bread and butter 5-10 yard passes he kept giving away, sloppily.

I have always rated Palmer. But v Boro I didn't think it was his best, he was a little inconsistent and agree some of the simpler stuff he got wrong. I do think he looks fitter than he did this time last season. It is also good he seems to be winning more fans over. He seems a character in the camp as well, seems to have a good attitude.

Palmer is doing a 6 at least each game. He needs to dial that up a bit if he wants to hold that slot long term. Love watching him, though. Hope he keeps getting better.

Robins is furious - he and Viveash told palmer to get a personal fitness coach to sort himself out

He’s just told them he’s been employing Reda Johnson over the summer

Wonder if any clubs in Saudi want him. Ultimate luxury player, just not a very good one

Although you jest the reality is no club would pay a transfer fee for someone like palmer other than a moderate one for his services - of the players we have he would attract little interest from other clubs

Like when no club in this division would be interested in Hyam and if he did leave it would be for £100k?

It’s obvious you are as infatuated with him as Mad Nad with Boris but he’s a championship journeyman and will never change

He's such a frustrating player, a great turn on the edge of the box then a rash effort that flies over the bar. That brilliant run and body swerve and then passes it to the keeper. Hopefully he can start delivering but I'd say a fit O'Hare is in over him every day of the week as much for his exemplary pressing and superior creativity.

Yeah that’s the difference. O hare can link both parts of the pitch. He can track back and press opposition into our central midfield as well as move and create going forward

Palmer has some attributes to be a top level footballer but his got an obvious weakness which it seems he can’t do anything about

You’d expect him to get more goals as well.

He should be a 10 goal a season player easily

I'm genuinely really excited to have Ohare and Plamer playing together, two flair players dropping into space.

Christ I'm at half mast just thinking about it.
