I can only think that Tats is being rested or has a minor niggle as why else would Ayari start ahead of him ?

Didnt see that coming

O'Hare is fucking miles off i really dont understand it
I also think Wright is finding his groove on the left so to stick him back in the middle, if that's what is happening, seems odd.

Got to be Allen playing deeper and Ayari and O'Hare much closer together than Tats and Wright were last game. Surely?

Edit - obviously with Wright being central striker

After seeing OHare try and play out wide and Ayari, they wont be able to play out wide.

Though given their biggest threat issupposed to be their LB/LWB maybe O'Hare's been tasked with tracking him when we're out of possesion, maybe?

Honestly think we should be taking the game to them, they’re so tricky to play against and can score goals from almost nothing. The likes of a rusty O’Hare and a not-as-good-as-we-all-hoped Ayari doesn’t seem like a team with attacking intent. I don’t want to be pessimistic, I was really up for this game but I’m genuinely disappointed with Robins’ selection there.

Really like this team selection. Ipswich will have prepared for unchanged side, they like to control the midfield, this could make things interesting.

As an aside I never thought Morsy and Luongo would be in the centre mid of a top 2 team. Well, top 2 league 1 maybe.

Because there is a lot more to it than just having the right role for one player? Given that Ipswich is free scoring at home it seems understandable

Just seen the lineup, and it reminds me of those times we're down to the bare bones and have to go a bit makeshift. There was a time having O'Hare back would have made me excited, but right now it's confusing me! How times change.

Well, look on the bright side, we won't have to moan about not making early subs today! Be very surprised if O'Hare and Ayari make it beyond 60 mins.

Has he got the fitness though?

Robins must think he has, we'll see.
I might be wrong that that's what he's been asked to do but just a theory.
The only theory I can offer for Ayaris inclusion if the phone call from Brighton that others have mentioned!

It's clearly 2 10's behind a striker and a flat midfield. It's a tough test today, I can see the thinking although ayari maybe doesn't have the tactical mind to pull it off.

People panicking over the team selection, clearly tactical, and will need the extra midfielders today, play Cal and Yasin off Wright and play on the counter attack, clear we won't have the ball as much as Ipswich at home. Will have to be smart and effective in our attacking play, can't afford to waste chances.

There has to be a tactical reason behind the changes, centre of the park is going to be a bit crowded

That team selection, will Mark Robins be a magician or a clown 🤡, You Decide.

I'm left rather perplexed by this line up.
Not sure how Ayari starts ahead of Simms .
What do I know ?
Bizarre starting lineup, Sakamoto has been excellent in the last couple of games playing in his correct position. Ayari has been dreadful so far so don’t get why he starts today.

Unchanged at the back (and holding midfielders) which is the important thing. I think the front 4 are pretty interchangeable. Whether it's a 3&1 or 2&2, I don't think it'll make a big difference.

Pack the midfield and play on the counter.

The MVE-Eccles-Saka link-up on the right was looking very promising.
To put the kid back in at the tip of that is puzzling, unless there's an injury.

Ohare for Godden I can understand if he's doing it in training, especially with todays opponents in mind
