Hard work win - not pretty at times - MR has to rotate all you muppet armchair managers -

by the way the Saka song is shite - needs an update with something simple
As long as it doesn't upset Godden

Not our best display but we won. Thought we were a bit half arsed in our passing and kept putting each other in trouble. I wouldn’t want to see that starting 11 too often especially the back 4. Palmer had to come off - he’s too often very ineffective. On the positives we’ve scored two goals again and won. Thought Collins did well as well as Van Ewijk and especially Torp - what a find

Robins will continue to rotate the players, it’s what he does, whether SBT likes it or not. He see himself as having a deep squad, and the more games we win the more it looks like he does. As to Wright, 11 goals and 5 assists so far in all competitions, and I’d like to think he’ll put 3 past Maidstone in the first half, for those targeting 22 he’ll get there. Job done vs. Milwall, we want a win at Plymouth (15th) away and then thrash Stoke (20th) at home before taking on PNE. These 5 February games need to be won because in April and May we still have the other 4 teams above us; we will be dropping points in the run in.

I'd like to think he won't play against Maidstone!

We’re Coventry city fans, of course we spend time after a win picking out a player or two to call shit.

(I’ve been watching too much TikTok)

Tbf I don't think anyone is saying somebody is shit. It's just classic of the forum to think in binary terms either amazing or shit.

I think Wright WILL play vs Maidstone, but fair enough. Yes, Stoke is away, but they are very poor. Plymouth away may well be a tough fixture, but they're ALL tough fixtures, and it's easier to grab 3 points there on the counter-attack than to take three from Leeds at home on the front foot I'd suggest.

Just been sent a video of the elbow on Sakamoto which doesn't seem to have been mentioned. It's horrific. A red all day long.

Been busy having an absolute nightmare with the trains but my thoughts are as follows.
We score the early chance we probably win 3-0.
Millwall were very hard to play against, horrible to watch.
We improved beyond recognition when Simms and Thomas came on.
Torp best player on pitch again.
We absolutely needed that quick fire second after the first before they had time to settle and continue shit housing. Vital goal and well taken.
Can't say it was overly enjoyable but great 3 points.

I think I was at a different game to some of you....

I thought it was an average performance with a few bright spots. Had we scored at the start, it could have been different.

1. Robins' selection almost cost us the game. Three of the back four have not been regular starters and Da Silva in particular is just is not up to this standard. Looked better once Thomas came on. Their goal was lucky, but we were poor at start in the face of a physical, direct, Millwall challenge. Robins redeemed himself with early substitutions; Lati in midfield for Eccles surprised me but definitely worked.

2. Robins-ball is getting very predictable. Sides know what we do. We piddle around, it ends up back at Collins who lacks the kick to get it up there. The players look terrified of taking a chance. Sometimes territory is as useful as possession

3. Torp is the real deal. Great corners, free kick and a real scrapper. But he's too like Eccles, which is partly why the substitution worked.

4. Wright is a great acquisition. He had scored the penalty before he kicked it (mind you I could barely look). But he is not a big target man. We only have one of those on the books - Simms - and Robins must begin to trust him, partly because it frees up Wright to stay left.

5. O'Hare (my MotM) provides the energy. His exploitation of open play is absolutely vital. I hope EMC and others can fill that gap.

Could go on.....

Will do very well to get a win at Plymouth to be honest, very good at home
They are, but we are good on the break - like the second goal. As others have said in the past that means we are suited to away games but not so much at home when we are expected to press and dominate. Plymouth's defence is a leaky as one of Francis Drake's old boats.

With Hardie and Whittaker, Robins cannot piss around with the defence - MvE (underwhelming today). Kitching, Thomas, Bidders with Lati sitting in front. Catch them on the break and Bob's your uncle.

With Kitching out, what possessed him to leave out Thomas as well today?

Did you watch a game we didn’t win?

He is a stickler for repeating a winning team, which I can understand. Today though that defence was asking for trouble against this particular opposition.

I don’t think Robins-ball is predictable at all. Millwall set up with 3-4-2-1 and as we know, this is a solid formation defensively. What I will say, is that Wright being quiet today demonstrates how much we’re struggling to engage our strikers. Wright looked better on the wing.

In the coming weeks, Palmer or Simms needs to nail down a starting berth. One week, Simms scores off the bench and is quiet the next match. The next, Palmer was good against Norwich and Wednesday but quiet today.

I agree that Thomas should have started against a physical team in Millwall. As for JDS, some very harsh words - he was involved in a lot of attacking play. I think MR will keep in against Plymouth. Millwall looked to hurts down both flanks and their goal came from skinning MVE I believe.

Maybe I’m mental but Wrighr again looked ten times more dangerous up front than Simms or Godden have. He was inches away from being through on goal two or three times in the first half. Needs Torp and the like to hit him earlier with better balls though.
He did and feel that’s partly because we made an effort to put balls over the defence. With a bit more accuracy it’s a tactic that could work.

Wright himself looked more dangerous on the wing which was telling for me.
