Sakamoto Injury (22 Viewers)

Let’s say (God forbid) this injury ends his career, would there be any legal basis for CCFC to sue the hell out of PNE for the foul and/or the EFL for poor officiating leading to a lack of protection?

Of course not. Again why are we speculating here.

VAR is as a concept, fantastic

It's the clowns in charge of it that miss things - the problem is with the standard of officiating not VAR, if it was used well no one would have an issue with it

Rugby and Cricket have managed to nail it, football has failed miserably
VAR is, and always has been shit for a free-flowing game like football. Fine for games like rugby, cricket and the NFL where the game stops every couple of minutes anyway and the rules that need enforcing are easily defined.

Only reason to bring it in for lower league football is if you want EFL-standard refs to have more of an impact on games than they currently do - personally I’d rather watch Jay Dasilva play in the NBA.

Horrible on the pitch, but a really nice lad off the pitch. Dig a bit deeper and he's done some heart warming stuff off the pitch. Can't stand him when he's playing, though.
I'd echo that. I've met him a couple of times and he's come across as a decent lad. A mate of mine was a PT for him and said he's sound. Obviously has a different persona on the pitch.

PNE are quite clearly as thick as Wednesday fans as they seem to think their man is whiter than white and completely blameless

Some of the sides we have played recently have been a throwback to the 70s and if that is becoming the new (old) to win football matches then I can see my interest in the sport wearing thin

He almost snapped Gyokeres ankle first game of the season last year, sexual assault on that Norwich player, plus many other incidents. But that's alright, he takes a few photos with the fans after.
Like I say, dig a little deeper...sod all to do with photos with fans, and as I said, can't stand him on the pitch.

To be fair I’m not even at the point of can he play for us in x amount of time

I just hope he’s ok
Yeah I think don’t expect him back and hope it’s not life changing.

You never know though, let’s see what the diagnosis is, but MR didn’t sound hopeful.

What their player did was sly and considered but it wasn’t particularly malicious, also with an element of self protection. Tats’s own athleticism and determination put him into that crazy position and the sheer height he fell from. Hopefully his diminutive stature will have negated the damage.🤞

I missed the injury as I was down stairs and came back up to see him being put on to the stretcher, If it's true that the Preston player made a back for him and this injury turns out to be as serious as some are saying, then it absolutely has to be addressed by the league, the act of making a back has only one intent which is to ensure your opponent falls to the ground in a heap, it's been done for years by players at all clubs and will no doubt happen up and down the league's today, it has to become a no go, a straight red until it's removed from the game by the clubs themselves.

So it was predetermined and deliberate with the obvious risk of causing injury .

There was a period years ago where they cracked down on this. Like everything it was then forgotten for this weeks handball directive.

We’ve really got the worst of all worlds right now. Assaults like the ones on Allen and Saka get absolutely nothing but if you breath of a defender it’s a foul and anyone can just fall over to stop the game.

Retrospective action is the only thing they can do now. Fortunately Allen’s was punished but you’re right there was a clamp down on ducking under balls to lever players over you. Retrospectively it should be punished, someone said earlier about rugby and those fuckers can take a hit, poor old saka is 3 stone wet through and fell about 6 foot

At the time I said to my mate why are we lumping the ball up to Tatsu….it was an awful landing and my guess would be a stress fracture of the lumbar spine. These can take 4-6 months to recover from, hoping it’s nothing more serious. Wishing Tatsu a full and speedy recovery 🙏🏻

Possible ligament damage as well which in my experience plagues you for life.

It is a tactic designed to injure a player . In rugby it is an automatic sin bin for intent but players like Kane and Shearer before him have done it their whole careers . It is , god forbid , a broken neck waiting to happen
It will happen eventually and unfortunately the authorities probably won’t take it seriously until then.

I think this is a bit harsh. Sakamotos leap was almost gravity defying and in the speed of the moment I can’t see it a deliberate attempt to injure.

Bobby Thomas does the same thing and tries to roll the forward
