Needs the wing backs to be pretty aggressive to avoid it being 7 defensive players getting put under siege

Abd yet here we are asking for Bidwell. Would be so CCFC to give up on Dasilva just as we swap to WBs, especially as his best games were at the start of the season when people were saying he was our best player.

For it to have a chance of not being the stodgy turgid shite of earlier in the season, Torp needs to be on his game, the wing backs need to be aggressive and Simms needs some vague kind of service.

Will be interesting to see what we do if one of the CBs gets injured mind you.

No one's giving up on him except moronic fans. Don't make it about ccfc?

I’m firmly in the back 4 is best camp, but based on those we have missing and the players available, back 3 can work. As others have commented, the players are better established now and more familiar with the club/expectations, so my pick will be:

Collins
Thomas, Kitching, Binks
MVE, Torp, Eccles, Bidwell
COH, Palmer
Simms

Bench will be a bit light
MR could just as easily go with Wilson and JDs

anything other than a defeat would be great, all things considered. No chance we keep a clean sheet, equally confident we’ve got enough to score, so 2-2

Dasilva was pretty poor at wing back at the start of the season

The whole team was poor at the start of the season. He was one of the better performers in a few games though. I think it was the Rotherham game he laid on 3 or 4 great chances that no one converted.

He deserved to be dropped though, as he had a couple of bad games in a row.

But it depends how you see the wing back role. If you think playing three centre backs gives the WBs more freedom than when playing a back four and you want someone more effective in the final third then you pick Dasilva. If you want to be more solid, stop leaking goals and try and nick a 1-0 win then you pack the defence out and put Bidwell there (as I would for West brom).

The calls for him to play and the enthusiasm for a back 5 are a bit weird to me.

It isn't to say the formation won't work, but given the success we have had with the new formation in comparison, it seems like a step back to do it. I accept the team has got to know each other better now, and of course Sakamoto is out injured, but it feels like one person has talked about a back 5 and all of a sudden that seems like the genius thing to do. We will potentially concede less goals, although that's not completely a given. Going forwards with it we were absolutely awful previously which is what stands out to me. Our wingbacks don't appear good enough generally, which are key to that system, and by default it also removes an extra creative position out of the team.

I won't write it off given the reasons I have posted above, but as I said, it seems at first look like a step backwards.

We went to Leicester at the start of the season with a new squad and it came close , whichever way we have nothing to fear as far as I'm concerned!

The problem with the back five was the lack of dynamism from the midfield along with the strikers misfiring. Once Allen and then O’Hare returned we looked a bit better and Torp has improved the forward passing from deeper, Simms is looking better but Wright still ineffective up front it seems.

I don’t see why going 5ATB is better than just sticking Palmer out wide, but if that’s what Robins is doing I’d want Dasilva because he’s much better in possession than Bidwell and we don’t need two DMs plus two defensive wingbacks. Plus we’ve got two good left footed CBs that mean we can easily cover.

They players need to put in the performance of the season today, no excuses.

We've played about 40 games in all this season, but you're demanding that this must be the best of the season today? Lovely should it happen, though.

It’s a game that with the last squad we’d have got a performance. Season defining game where if we lose it’s probably game over. I’m still not convinced this squad has the grit of previous squads so hoping the prove it tonight.

It’s going to be a tough game at WBA who have consistently stayed in the playoff spot this year. Our hopes really will be about winning all our home games and hoping to get some decent away results where possible.

This is the business end of the season, if you dont perform now then the rest of the seaosn has been a waste. I can accept loosing but in the right way, not like it was against Preston.

This is a team thats had a season to gel and Robins has bulit it. We will see today where we are at.

They are the Middlesbrough of last season , in the top 6 for most of the time , but not at the level to go up.
For tonight , it’s about spoiling their party , as how the hell they have ANOTHER new owner , to get them out of the poo ???
Wright is going through an awful patch of form , so do we pack the midfield, with the possibility of Da silva ahead of Bidwell & O’Hare behind Simms , in a 4 4 1 1 & please Robins …. The return of Collins

Away at the Albion? Still scarred from the away days there where they scored atleast 4 every time , so I’ll go with 4-4 draw tonight 😂

Last season we'd have had Sheaf and Hamer centre midfield - a key area, where we will obviously be weaker this evening. Don't think we can question the team's mentality based on our form over the last few months, I think it's more the case of physicality. Hoping Simms can have a good performance game against a couple of big centre backs.

Yeah, this it really. Irrespective of the result, this lot need to show they've got what's needed to start another run of results.

Not sure the comments on Wright are very fair yes he’s not pulled the goals of a few weeks ago but he’s still pulled players away from Simms in the last few games , one of the hatrick goals I thought he had scored not Simms as he was right there - he doesn’t get the supply with Da Silva at right back - he and Simms need a ball to run onto - I am hoping Collins is back as possibly his distribution over the press should be more accurate as WBA will be on the case !

To be fair to them they turned 4 defeats on the spin into a run of 1 defeat in 20 games, playing all of the top 4 sides in that period. After each recent defeat we've won the following game.

Yes the criticism of Wright is unfair. He nearly scored before Simms did on Monday and made an excellent run and cross which very nearly resulted in another goal for Simms before he got a knock.

Wright always seems to attract disproportionate criticism if he doesn't score and even sometimes when he does.

Yeah, not running them down. But performances had been patchy - poor early goals (Bristol, Swansea, Preston) - during the run. Preston was a car wreck of a performance.

With the players we're now missing, I don't think there's been a game since the formation switch where the need to just dig in and get something has been bigger.

I was there when we lost 7-1 , Willie Johnston scored a perfectly good goal (unfairly called offside) which would of made 8.
What's worse my old man made us stay to the end.
