As much as it pains me to partially agree with freaking Epsom Derby over here, but he's not wrong. With that being said, I do like the direction the club is going, plus freaking RedRum here is a prick, so who knows

King bought the club and has put £6 million in

There cannot have been debt owed as has been claimed.

The £25m comment is just not relevant

Why isnt it relevant?

The bloke was publically open about buying the Arena for 25 million quid. Whilst at the same time, not knowing where it was, and never having been there.

Thats quite relevant is it not as it pertains a few things:

-He didn't have the first clue about us
-Who told him to bid for the stadium, and what it was worth when he hadnt even set foot in it or knew where it was
- He had 25million quid allegedly to buy the place. Even allowing the club to use 20% of that would make a massive difference no?

The grounds an asset he or one of his companies would then own/have security over. We don’t know who would’ve bought it or how the purchase would’ve been funded. He could borrow against it in future if needs be. Very different from using cash on transfer fees and wages

I always felt mentioning a 25m offer on the media was a move to try to get the court/administrators to delay the sale of the ground to Frasers so he could properly assess the situation. There was no certainty he would’ve completed the deal, especially at 25m.

But let’s not kid ourselves the alternatives were Sisu for longer or possibly William Storey ( 🤯).

We didn’t have an emirate billionaire desperate to buy us, in fact any interest in buying us for the previous near decade was via Gary Hoffman trying to rescue us from Sisu.

sitting on the fence with King is like replacing Godden with Jota but not enjoying it because you would have preferred Harry Kane.

If we get back to the Premier League I doubt King will be the long term owner but for now for the first time in 20 years we are actually trying to do it.

investing in the team in a material way ✅
Improving scouting and buying players with potential ✅
Using data analytics ✅
Greater adoption of sports science ✅
Investment in training ground ✅
Open communication with fans / media ✅
Commercial proposition being modernised ✅
Season ticket sales at record levels and prices frozen ✅

That sounds like progress to me …..
I’m not saying I’m against King - but I’m still wary, SISU started well enough, invested in young players with resale with the aim of developing and selling on and then restarting the process.

He’s the one demanding FA Cup runs and play offs regularly - that requires investment. Now last year it was good - he’s shown that he’ll reinvest money when it comes in. The question is - is what happens if Gyokeres doesn’t go from sporting, how are we going to fund the what we can see small squad that isn’t equipped to make the top 6.

at the moment he’s doing a good job, but at the moment everything has just fell into his lap

He didn't have £25m just burning a hole in his pocket to buy the stadium. He possibly could've raised that amount to buy the stadium because property is seen as a decent, safe investment.

Had he gone to the same funding sources saying "give me £25m to buy football players" he wouldn't get anything. Players can get injured, lose form or just leave on a free at the end of the contract. It's a hugely risky thing to do.

We also invested materially in January with Torp and EMC.

I thought he extracted max value from the Vik and Hamer situations and much more than SISU would have done.

He’s spent £6 million a point you refuse to acknowledge

The Doug takeover seemed a bit too good to be true so I get the initial stand-offishness. However he’s done a tremendous job since he took over and I’m not sure why anyone is still questioning him.

Is he not exactly what you want in an owner? Runs the club sensibly (albeit we are still loss making), backs the manager, engaged with the fan base and listens to feedback, and attends nearly every match.
My main concern is the club’s long term future and what happens if we don’t get promoted within the next 4 seasons. I don’t think here’s here beyond that time.

Without doubt the club is in a better place but considering our record with hedge fund owners, it’s better to ask questions about what’s going on.

Well the 6m he’s put in is nearly 25% of 25m, so there’s that…

Why would he need to set foot in it? Presumably he would have got someone with relevant knowledge to value the place but he was also having to make decisions on the fly so I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Some cunts are just never satisfied.

We wanted SISU out, King bought them out.

We wanted to stay at the Arena, we're staying at the Arena.

We wanted MR on a longterm contract, we've got MR on a longterm contract.

We wanted top money for our players, wer'e getting top money for our players

We wanted investment in the training ground, we're getting investment in the training ground.

We wanted big days out at Wembley, we're getting big days out at Wembley

We wanted record attendances, we're getting record attendances.

We wanted a team to be proud of, we've got a team to be proud of.

And still some weasely clueless cunts aren't happy!!!!

Sorry for the rant, but honestly it boils my piss reading some of the pathetic shit on here sometimes.

Here's a thought, wy not get behind DK and actually try and support what he's trying to achieve!

The 6 million he has invested is over 5% of 25 million.

So when everything is going well, it's not down to him but when anything goes wrong. It's DK fault?

I don't get the negativity around DK wanting playoffs and a FA cup run? I'm sure he is realistic away from the media.

DK to MR:

"You know what Mark, lets be honest. We haven't got the budget so don't lose any sleep over going for playoffs. A nice safe, mid-table position will do. That's all we can realistically hope for."

DK to the fans:

"Don't get your hopes up! Come buy your STs and join the exciting journey as we aim for midtable."

Jury still out for me personally. Will take a lot for me to be able to trust an owner, especially when they’re a millionaire business person!

So far he hasn’t done anything of note to give me a reason to dislike him, but also, when times are hard I want to see how he responds then.

Id say record ticket sales at higher prices and record merchandise sales whilst vocally being the loudest we've been in decades is doing exactly that no?

No, I obviously would love a rich owner provided they weren’t for example, similar to the Newcastle owners!

If it was a rich fan and hobbyist I’d feel slightly different about it. Also, as much as I’d like that, it would still take me a while to trust them too.

Seen as we’re looking more towards the A-League, I’ve compiled a list of young players we should be looking at for the first team/development.

Alex Paulsen
Nicolas Milovanovic
Jacob Farrell
Jake Hollman
Ben Old
Finn Surman
Mark Natta
Jake Girdwood-Reich
Jed Drew
Lucas Kelly-Heald
Luka Jovanovic
Thomas Waddingham
Jonny Yull

The listed players are more developed the higher up the list you go

He would not have paid £25m for it - that value would have come down a fair bit.

You have zero evidence of that.

The Vik and Hamer fees were not a windfall but rather assets that were valued in the transaction. If King got more than the sale valuation then that is to his credit ….

But theres also zero evidence that he did pay, or how as Grendel rightly pointed out above

So why is it taken as Gospel that he did 'buy' us, when there is the same amount of evidence for that than he didnt 'buy' us 🤷

A change of ownership at a club doesnt necessarily mean cash changed hands, theres been changes of CEO, Owners at plenty of clubs in the past where no liquid value changed hands

I keep seeing stuff like "let's see what DK does/spends when times are hard"

What exactly are you expecting? For him to spend money we or he don't have? Ridiculous expectation.

Not necessarily spend money we don’t have, but have some kind of strategy or plan I guess. See how he deals with the fans if they grow impatient etc.

Ideally though I don’t want to have to see this. It’s probably more my problem I admit that. Just can’t quite “believe” at this stage we have a good owner now 😂

Starting a rumour because I'm bored:

Chelsea are sending us Harvey Vale on loan. England U20 international. Was at Bristol Rovers last season where he played LB, LWB and even some RW, recording 2 goals and 5 assists.

Welcome Harvey.
