The 80’s boys were a lot more colourful than this dire black attire the youth wear now !😃
Never been in the Wheatsheaf in my life, I must be missing out , it looks popular !

The lads dressed in the black gear made me laugh. Obviously taken from the Russians at Euro 16, but the difference being that they were like para military trained cage fighters, while those on display last night were weedy kids who would run a mile if ever they came face to face with those Russians.

So there we are, this "rivalry" goes back 50 years. Bollocks does it.
It's all been resurrected because of the internet stirring up what happened in 1977.
"Jimmy Hill delayed kick off " this programme omitted to say it was on police advice .

Interesting as it was, this programme serves to embed myths that only add to the hatred between what is generally a small minority of supporters.

sunderland could have won.
yes, we played out a draw, but they did have some say in the matter.

They had a whole season to state their case. Also we hit the post after their game had finished, but we obviously did that for effect?

He was nice when I spoke to him and came across well in the programme too.
Although, as somebody on the Sunderland forum pointed out, he said he'd had a heart attack chasing a ne'er do well, but was shown on the programme ordering himself a sausage, bacon & egg batch (or similar) ! Made me laugh.

Episode 2 is available to stream. Pretty interesting, taking about the increase in trouble and it being groups on U20s throwing pyro around and causing trouble.

Showing how half the time they aren't even watching the game, they're more interested in the opposition fans and filming things for TikTok. Reminded me of when Wilson scored to keep us in the play offs. Watch the highlights and you see Wilson run over to our fans to celebrate and our fans ignoring him and running straight past him to have a go at the home supporters.

That last part is a little different. There's not much better than celebrating in front of opposition fans who have been trying to wind you up all game

It was interesting listening to the Scunthorpe DFO, reminds us the impact relegation can have on even the non-footballing staff involved with the club.

I did find the comment around the reduction in the level of hooliganism over time, albeit with a recent increase, but with a change in the "rules of engagement" of the cohort you mentioned in recent times also interesting. With older hooligans only seeking to target those like-minded to themselves and not attack anyone wearing colours, but the younger group do not seem to hold onto this ideal.

It's massively over exaggerated to fit the narrative.

Back in those days the final fixtures didn't all kickoff at the same time anyway. Other teams in the relegation battle; Spurs, Stoke & West Ham all played at different times (even different days).

Yes they were giving us shit, we were just getting our own back before they all left which they did hastily.

Needs a good clean for a start. How expensive can it be to jetwash the place?

There were people out doing it last year when we went up to renew our STs. Don't know how far they got but they were by the corner opposite the memorial garden when I saw them.

Thousands and then there is the the mess everywhere else that the jet wash leaves plus the damage it causes to all the louvres and Aluminium panels that are powder coated, would need repainting too.
It not an easy job.

Just hope the fix the wall of fame with all the bricks falling out. It had danger tape around it the other week when I went to renew my ST.

The walls have looked shabby for years but the “bricks” aren’t real you know. They are just tiles that are a couple of cm thick pasted onto plasterboard displays.

Watched it on catch up this morning. It was interesting to see what goes on from their side of things.
I was surprised that Liverpool fans were going to Man City with forgeries and without tickets and looking to rush the turnstiles. Old habits die hard.
As for the pleb that did the gender reveal at our game..... :ROFLMAO:

Let's face it the whole build was done on the cheap by the looks of it. It's not the same build quality as Wolves.

Yes I know went past again yesterday they have repaired them have battens holding them in place.
Couldn't remember which wall it was so looked again, it was Bobby Goulds.

What still really irks me about the walls (apart from the efflorescence on the 'bricks') is that they've just been whacked up without any thought to how they look. Having a random mix of gold and black looks a mess.

Should have had different walls in separate colours, or at the very least alternated them in a chequerboard.

I didn’t know anyone with any animosity or hatred of Sunderland until a few years back.
Always have a grudging nod of respect for any fans like theirs who usually travel in numbers and win nothing .
First game I ever saw on a colour TV was the 73 cup final when Sunderland beat Dirty Leeds , when me and my Dad were invited around to watch the match on a neighbours shiny new colour TV, instead of our rented Black & White telly .
Most of us playing in the parks for weeks / months after the cup final , always pretended to be their goalie Jim Montgomery every time we threw our selves and saved a shot

If it was a load of kids then you could understand it but they were mostly blokes in their 40s, at least the lot who pushed over a fence.
Only just watched it this morning but my favourite bit of that was the lad trying, and failing, to cover his face whilst wearing a bright yellow Stone Island jacket. :ROFLMAO:

And then he got gassed for good measure.
