yet you turn a blind eye to the fact that after sacking our manager after 3 games we lost five league matches on the bounce.

I just hope if we don't make it this season Shitsu back robins

No I'm delighted we sacked him.

We wouldn't even be having this discussion if he was still in charge -- we'd already be out of this cup and fighting for our League One lives.

Hopefully Sisu will back Robins because he is a proper manager, rather than some fat guy with a squirty flower and big squeaky shoes.

I've never really witnessed success following Cov but, like the Birmingham Senior Cup victory, I wouldn't count winning this trophy as success regardless of whether the final is at Wembley or not.

You might not care about this cup, but I guarantee you couldn't help but enjoy seeing your team at Wembly.

If, and its a big If, we make it to Wembley, I hope you decide to go. It really would be a day to remember and a day all Sky Blue fans could unite behind the team without the usual worrying of managers, boards, and players.

The music at the club Christmas do wouldn't bear thinking about.

I couldn't believe there were 10k there tonight. And why the queues?

You thought more? Or less?

Queues had to be cos people were coming quite late. I got in with 25 mins to go before kick off and there was not a single person in front of me. Straight through the turnstile, hardly a City fan to be seen.

Personally looking at the bigger picture I m happy that we got a draw from a top 6 club. As far as the jpt is concerned, if it lifts spirits then great

That's just it, I don't see how it can't! Look at the excitement on here. Fans are starting to (steady now) believe again and I can't see how that, along with the run we're on, can't help the players!

I agree, a day out at Wembley would be nice but to be honest I wouldn't have been bothered had we gone out
I have not and will not be going to any cup games this season...
But, as a season ticket holder I will go to Wembley if we get there. An earned perk of being a season ticket holder for about 30 out of last 40 years

And we competed on an equal footing with them, so that's a bonus.

To be fair they rested 4 players, including their first choice strike force (Neill Collins, Nick Blackman, Chris Porter and Shaun Miller), we were at full strength.

A day out at Wembley to see your team play.
What right minded fan wouldn't want that.

My point is that this is a bit of a sideshow. To me it is the equivelant of the Zenith Data Cup / Simod Cup when we were in the top flight.

I do accept it has an advantage in that it will generate interest in many fans who otherwise would not be attracted to the club but for me having watched the club in the Premier League for 30 years this is something that I cannot see much point in.

I agree. I went tonight but only as it was cheap and I wanted our form to continue for the league, a win is a win and all that.

Prior to this season the JPT was a joke and just because we are now in it doesn't make me change my mind. Its still a joke and should we get to the final I can't imagine going. Its a cup for teams that can't play with the big boys and that's not something I'd be particularly proud to win. Maybe I'm a miserable twat but I'm just being honest.

Southampton won it 2 years ago. Now playing with the big boys.

Yes that doesn't make winning it much of an achievement. People say winning it was the spring board for their success. I'd say it was £1M on Ricky Lambert, more than that on Billy Sharp plus a very healthy wage budget that was the catalyst.

We won the Southern Floodlight Cup once but who talks about that.

Fuck off Grendel let us supporters ENJOY (you might need a thesaurus for that word) our win. Maybe if you had actually bothered going up to support (thesaurus time again) the team you may have seen how much it meant to us supporters.

And I'm sure Saints fans will boast about that huge trophy win for generations to come...

Did I say they would? The point was they won it 2 years ago and are now in the Prem. Not that they're fans aren't going to give a shit about it now.

Now I can moan with the best of them

BUT

What the f*ck is wrong with people?????????????????

We won the game, I thought were a much better side than the Blades (and I dont care whether they rested players or not) and move on to the next round.
Why cant people be happy with that. I was ectsatic when we won as I like my team winning.

The club if anyone hadnt noticed has been starved of success, is leeching fans and are broke. Success will bring back fans, give the team and club confidence to move forward and will (reagrdless of owners) earn the club some much needed cash which may well help it have a future.

For me personally I would love to win the cup and go to Wembley to see my beloved Sky Blues again.

Anyone who thinks otherwise feel free to wallow in the happiness that our league one results do or dont bring you

Don't you need a dictionary?

I suggest you look up DICTIONARY in a thesaursus.

I've had a season ticket for 40 years so when I need lessons in support I'll ask for it thanks.

Which would surely make the achievement of us winning it, if we do, better?!

Yeah, it was more that someone insinuating that winning the JPT was the catalyst of getting to the PL.....whereas spending power has had much more impact on that.

At the end of the day, whoever is staying away has missed 2 good nights. York and Utd the two best nights of the season.

Isn't there a stat about us being the only club in the last 20 odd years never to have challenged for anything?? I would enjoy seeing just a little bit of success come our way, inn whatever competition. My preference would be the league, but I'll take the JPT Trophy.

The trouble with looking down on this trophy and recalling the "good old days" in the Premier is that we are not in the Premier any more, surprise surprise, and this is now our level at the moment. Just enjoy the win, and if we do get to Wembley, enjoy that too.

I was merely stating facts. And not the sort of facts where you put "FACT"at the end if the statement! FACT!!

In my view having a season ticket doesn't necessarily make you a supporter. I regard you as a fan and not a supporter. Only you could put a negative spin on an incredible night like tonight.

exactly why the club has fallen from the top stage. 2 reasons : arrogance and neglect. Both to do with fans and the club owners alike

From the JPT website. Cites a number of clubs who's revival come after winning it

The tournament features all 48 clubs from League One and League Two and is split into northern and southern regional sections – creating a pot full of spine-tingling derbies in the early rounds. With a match format that encourages attacking play and penalty-shoot out drama, entertaining spectacles are guaranteed.
The first of many memories were created in front of 59,024 supporters at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, with Doncaster Rovers beating Bristol Rovers 3-2 in extra-time to clinch the 2007 crown.
Rovers’ chairman, John Ryan, has continually cited the trophy as one of the main reasons behind the clubs revival.
One year later, at the new Wembley Stadium, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy became a name forever associated with MK Dons after Pete Winklemen’s outfit won the coveted prize.
Their 2-0 win over Grimsby Town in front of 56,618 supporters officially signalled the start of a new era for the club, providing an excellent platform for their then manager Paul Ince to build upon.
The trophy was then the driving force behind another compelling story in 2009, when more than 40,000 Luton Town fans made the 40 mile journey to Wembley to watch a quite mesmeric game of football against Sc-unithorpe United.
Hailed as the best domestic final ever witnessed at the new Wembley Stadium, the Hatters defied the formbook and tipped the league tables on their head, edging a classic encounter by three goals to two - courtesy of Claude Gnakpa’s slow-motion lob in extra time.
Town captain Kevin Nicholls memorably promised to share his man-of-the-match award with every one of his team-mates and hailed winning the trophy as a highlight of his career.
With such a glorious afternoon of football living so long in the memory, it was difficult to imagine another day to rival it.
But in customary Johnstone’s Paint Trophy style, March 28th 2010 became that day.
Southampton shattered records on the field of play by claiming a 4-1 victory over Carlisle United in front of 73,476 football fans – the highest attendance for a trophy final and the second biggest in the entire history of the Football League Trophy.
It surpassed the number of fans who watched the equivalent of the FA Cup Final last season in Spain, Italy and Holland.
The result also equalled a record for the largest winning margin in any trophy final, while Southampton’s 44,000 following was the biggest fan base ever recorded at the new Wembley Stadium.
Trophy veterans Carlisle United returned to Wembley for the 2011 final to face an in form Brentford. The Cumbrian outfit rectified their mistakes from the season before and rewarded their loyal fan base with a tense 1-0 win.
Last season the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy saw another team classed as underdogs defy the footballing gods in front of 50,000 supporters by snatching the trophy from the early tournament favourites.
It had seemed written in the stars that Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon Town – who finished the season as League Two champions – would go on to win the final against a Chesterfield side who were facing relegation from League One.
But John Sheridan’s men showed quality and determination to end up worthy 2-0 winners after a blistering 90 minutes at Wembley – giving Chesterfield fans at least some treasured memories of 2012.
As we look forward to etching another name on the trophy in 2013, one thing is for certain – 49 more fixtures with as much vibrancy and colour as the Johnstone’s Paint brand itself.
Johnstone's. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.

Errr...I think we all ought calm down a little? We have not won anything yet. Not even got a better chance than the other clubs still in it - given our raving unpredictability. We ARE heading in the right direction though :)
