I generally think Japanese players are great and highly underrated but isn’t Miyoshi getting on a bit for a winger? And we already have a fair few wingers? Good bench option, can’t see him starting over Haji, Saka, EMC that much though? I don’t think it’s a bad signing if it’s true, I just highly doubt it is.

Fair enough but firstly do we need another winger? Maybe, at a real push. Secondly, do we want more players that we can’t sell on for profit in 2, 3, 4 years time?

I think Saka is absolute class and Miyoshi would be a good bench/rotation option but the only way we can make money as a club is to invest in younger players, train them up and sell them on for a profit. I don’t think buying Miyoshi helps us in the long run, he’s a decent short-term option (which obvs has its merits) but if we’re thinking of being financially sustainable as a club we need to make money from somewhere. I don’t think Miyoshi is a bad option, I just don’t think he’s the best option.

My opinion is with the new coaches settling in and an assistant yet to be brought in the club is evaluating what they have within the squad before triggering anything in the pipeline. Im sure no matter what a no1 GK and a FW will be signed, but other evaluation of the unknowns will play a part in ongoing negotiations.

Its going to take another few weeks which we have and a few friendlies to see all. Carr has been brought in to help develop the individual he will know by this week who can , who needs and who cant get to the level needed. This is all a process and foundations are being laid for success to come. But money being an issue for every club evaluation of players and where money needs to be invested is key to gaining success on the pitch. Be patient all comes to those who wait.

To be honest, to have the optimal team/squad, I would like us to be signing (or at least get linked with) the best players in the world, that aren't either already playing at the top level, or would cost over like £2.5 million. It is also very important that these players are perfectly suited to our manager's preferred tactics and can adapt to his his will, whenever necessary, whilst also demonstrating great determination, character and loyalty. They must also be aged between 19 and 25 to ensure we can sell them on when they're even better. Personally, I find it hard to fathom why Mark Robins and the team don't have the same vision or ambition as me. It's becoming frustrating...

A well reasoned post, but I would argue it's patently obvious even to fans that the minimum required are a GK, CB/RB, CM amd ST

I don't think the coaches would need to analyse anything to recognise that

Spot on @Saddlebrains

I don’t think our scouting will work like that.

Target positions to strengthen will have been identified months ago for scouting.

The post season review with Robins, Doug and Austin will have confirmed the transfer budget and priority positions.

Since then we will have been working flat out to bring them in …. I think there is very little chance that the club will pause that activity to give the new coaches time to see if they agree !.

The new coaches might spot something new which could get added to the recruitment mix if Robins agrees but I think that is the limit of their input on what type of player we might want this summer.

I just think with the length on contracts they are handing out will determine the process, the new coaches especially Carr need to know, what they have in our younger players and who genuinely had a pathway to 1st team football before being left with too many numbers in certain areas and no depth in others.

For instance if Burroughs is a player they think is a genuine top championship player or who can be developed into one why spend 2.5 mill on Burrows from Boro. Or is Rodriguez a player that stops us spending wages on the Columbian lad.. I completely understand the need but we do have young players that need an answer on the level they are at or an opportunity to prove what they can do. That opportunity is now for Burroughs, Howley, Obikwu, Andrews and anyone else who shows up.

Say we have an immense end to the window: Vik goes for €100M, Gus goes for €20M and we let one of the keepers go for £~500K. Netting us around £15mill.

We sign Browne, BTA, Dovin, Camera and an experienced CB at this level (just going off our rumours for players to bring in).

Where are we expecting to finish?

For me we have to be flirting with autos given the strength of the championship this season compared to recent years. Probably falling short and landing in the play offs.

Well nobody really knows the strength of the Championship teams as they haven't finished recruiting yet.

Also people kept writing off Ipswich last year saying they wouldn't last the pace and got it spectacularly wrong! 😂

If its true that Dovin is done and dusted then that is sorted.

As for the other positions I'm not sure its as obvious as you suggest. At RB for instance there seems little point targetting a rival for MVE, as he is a certain starter, and we have Burroughs, Eccles and Latibeaudiere already at the club who can cover there if MVE gets injured. At CB we have Thomas, Binks, Lati & Kitching to fill 2 places in the team which also doesn't leave us short, while CM we have Sheaf, Eccles, Torp, Rudoni, Palmer competing for 3 starting places.

I do suspect we will bring another forward in however whether that be Thomas-Asante, Tyrese Campbell or someone not yet mentioned, and although we are covered at LB in terms of numbers with Bidwell and Dasilva, I do feel that is a position we could do with better quaility.

Very valid points tbf, just with the RB thing (and CM in general) I do think we could do with a backup so we can rotate players when they’re injured or tired. There’s so many games in the championship to play, let alone cup matches, that we’ll need a better backup than Lati or Eccles, neither of them are proper RBs and I think having a MVE-lite would really bolster our squad. It’s not essential but little things like that could be the difference between promotion and staying in the championship.

Where the fuck you got 7 million from? 😂😂

Rudoni 2
Rodrigues ain't gonna be more than a million
Binks 1.5

EMC Was January
If the totality of the Rudoni fee is £2m Huddersfield must have an infant goat running their finances. Whole package likely to be around £5m in time. £1.7 Binks. Balance Rodrigues.

I agree with all of this. I am particularly puzzled about why people think we need another right back. I'd say van Ewijk is our best player and we have Burroughs, Latibeaudiere and Eccles as back up. Maybe Dasilva will step up but left back seems our weakest position other than goalkeeper.

With respect Burroughs is totally untried as an actual RB, Eccles should never play there and Lati is not really the same type of full back. We need a second specialist RB so that we can give MVE a break occassionally and also to challenge him

Saka can play there too.

Not quite true is it he had a run there in 22-23?

So you would rather play a key player out of position instead of signing an actual RB? Makes little sense to improve all areas of the squad except for that one

Id take a RB if one comes along in budget, I just think we can survive the odd game if we have to with a combo of Lats Eccles Burroughs and Saka.

I haven't gone at you? I was commenting on someone's comment on a tweet by Dawkins.

Are you okay? Really, because you have just gone off the deep end about something that has absolutely nothing to do with you.

If you are that thin skinned then take a break.

Maybe you should just stop being a twat 24/7 to people picking fights cause even when you aren’t going at people, people think you are as you are known for it David o’dickheaddddd
